You can try to make a case to them to get the in county rate (especially if the other school doesn't offer your study of choice).If not, unfortunately you'll have to go to your county's college.

How old are you? When you're not dependent on your parents you can qualify for help. I just got some this year, otherwise I was paying for a class at a time. It's been way too many years and I'm in the same boat. I know that isn't encouraging... but this is reality for a lot of people, so you won't be alone in this boat. Mike just got under 30k on his loan. But it will be ok.

I'm not trying to make it seem like those problems are trivial. School sucks and is unfair. When classes are as well as othe policies favor those that have more time and money than those that have to work to live. I know the pain. Do what you can and roll with the punches. It makes it easier and there isn't much other choice.

I thought this was a standard part of county colleges

No their logic is that my family doesn't pay property taxes in their county which is what goes towards the reduced tuition

I had to jump through so many hoops just to prove to the state that I'm a resident (Texas is really particular about this) and I thought I finally had it sorted out and they basically turned me away at the gates of higher education

I'm not in finance so I can't tell what's a better option for you, elph. That it is you can pay the out of county rate while you live with your parents (while not paying rent), or take out loans and get through cc quickly and then move on to real college if you feel like that's right for you (where you will surely need to take out loans), or you can work and pay off each class and while it may be slow, it is progress.

yeah broward college is extremely affordable. but one class at FAU is like $670

BC is consistently among the top 10 2 year colleges in the country on various lists
