The Wicked Awesomes played a short set for basically just two other people and me tonight since they were staying at a friend's place in Portland... which is also essentially a house venue, 'the bloodbank.' They're a darn good band from Canada. Not upcoming but whatever.

The date I listed is at Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin, yeah. Though it turns out The Mountain Goats are playing a solo acoustic show at Magnet that same night. That might win me over I think.

When I saw the MGs late last year/early this year (I forget), he started with solo acoustic stuff and it was awesome, old, good Mountain Goats. I'm really not a huge fan of his 'band' incarnation but solo he's still really engaging, and if it's a wider spectrum of his catalog then I'm in.

mhm, these are quite good, i'd say, for a megalomanic festival:

radiohead, eodm, jarvis cocker, grace jones, kettcar, jello biaffra & band, editors, the subways, soulsavers feat. mark lanegen, selig, dúne, rival schools...

I guess I'm seeing Dragonforce in September. Only $5 and fees through that Subway/Live Nation $5 tix deal, so my friend bought me a ticket and told me I'm going.

We may also see Mastodon/Dethklok in October, which I would be far more excited to see.

Dragonforce should be good for a laugh

and Converge/High on Fire are also on that Mastodon bill

I'm going to see Dinosaur Jr, The Jesus Lizard, and various artists at Voodoo Experience. Most importantly, Gogol Bordello, Flaming Lips, Ween, Drive-By Truckers, Parliament-Funkadelic

They had one here with a great line-up but it was a three-day thing in the middle of nowhere so a daily ticket wasn't an option. I missed the Avett Brothers...again.
