i think there's a much bigger connection to the seventies than they are letting on. i mean, they sort of blew off sabbath but that is probably because the influence is too direct and obvious. i'm not saying i don't love some of those bands... it's just not really anything that is fantastically new. the earth/sunn direction is an exception. im mostly talking about bands like dead meadow, comets, bardo pond. i don't know.

Bardo Pond are completely original. Their music isnt as riff-derivative as Sabbath's

i wouldnt say they are completely original... it might not be sabbath but there's a heavy debt to be paid to the seventies, neil young, and even sy and big black. but i definitely see where you're coming from. id say i like bardo and sunn the most of the bands inc1uded followed closely by dead meadow cuz theyre from my hometown and one of them went to my highschool.

what was that crap band that sounded like wolfmother? pearls and brass or something? it seems a little misrepresentative from the trailer

i hope they show the really good stuff
