Arrow Heart Shaped Glasses

I like this song. It has a dark 80's vibe to it.

The two released songs from this new album are certainly different for MM, in that the production seems much more simplified and the songs sound almost stark, cold and empty.

The Vampire song is growing on me, but I don't love it.

This album will be the very worst thing manson has ever released. But by common standards, it may be worth a few spins.

i'm really really really hoping you're wrong, but i have a terrible feeling that you're right.

as opposed to a lot of people, i really liked GAOG. i enjoyed how the satire theme played throughout the album, and some of the songs are really fun to blast in the car and scream along to. i didn't really dig the whole WWI german micky mouse thing, but it was an interesting vehicle for his message.

i've been following the progression of interviews about Eat Me, Drink Me and i think that Heart Shaped Glasses and If I Was Your Vampire will be better appreciated in the context of the whole album. i can't even hardly listen to the vampire song, but from my experience with the big M, the whole is waaaay better than its parts.

WW1? I think it was mainly inter war Germany he was referencing..perhaps watching Kabaret too many times.

i just got this album, and its the best work he's done since mechanical animals, and you can take that for what its worth.

they said that hell's not hot, red carpet grave and are you the rabbit? make this album better than that grotesqe album or whatever its called.

they said that hell's not hot is fucking catchy and totally accessible. if anything its like a marilyn manson solo album, and not what a marilyn manson album is supposed to be, like the last two. i've totally warmed up to it.

the spin article was quite telling too. paints and interesting picture about who this guy is right now and it inspired me to reevaluate this effort.. i wrote this album off when i heard the reactions and i should have known better with netphoria.

The album has grown on me. At first I thought it was his weakest but I think I prefer it over Golden Age now.

golden age. thats the word. yeah dude that album has fun guitar hooks here and there and his screaming was better than that goth rock dreadful holy wood.

i still think mechanical animals at times is the saddest. especially disassociative.

I really like Holy Wood. For me it's his best after Antichrist Superstar.... I never really understood the unenthused reactions it has recieved.

i tried to listen to Eat Me, Drink Me on the way home from work the other day and I just couldn't get through it.

this whole self-exposed personality drama is just too much. i might try it one more time, but i'm not expecting too much.

its just relieving that he's not making another "this world is fucked" album. and the guitar work, while its nothing challenging, it is refreshing.

i couldn't get into much of the lyrics, and the songs were he does that goth voice pisses me off. i like it when he sounds like the wicked witch or whatever. you can hear it in apple of sodom or alot of mechanical animals.

love song was cool, i think i liked a couple others.

that goes without saying. 18 or so tracks? what is this a rap album? and it was way too conceptual.

yeah he pulled a billy. made a heavy and stellar album in 95 and then went electronic in 98, lost fans, decided on the "return to RAWK" with holy wood. bad move.

It is quite long, that is true. But I still think all the songs work in their own way, even ones that can be perceived as filler such as Valentine's Day or The Fall of Adam, so it works for me. As far as "goth voice" goes...c'mon, his voice was always pretty goth. He sounds great on a lot of those songs, Lamb of God for instance.

no its different. he never pulled that shit on mechanical or anit christ. especially not on portrait. his voice has been sinsister, but not gothy like on holy wood. even the new one he does it. its hard to explain in text of course.

For me it's POAAF and Mechanical Animals. I was standing there in Best Buy on Eat Me, Drink Me's release date with the album in my hand and I said to myself, "fuck this guy, he used to be the antichrist now's he's doing mushy love shit." The main reason for not buying it was the Heart Shaped Glasses music video. It was one big make out/sex session....fuck him. he's lost it.
