there's also a new josephine foster album everybody seems to be ignoring, which is of course sacrilegious since she is one of the most precious beings in this particular section of the universe

my favs this year were

jj - jj n° 2
Passion Pit - Manners
Emily Jane White - Victorian America
The xx - The xx
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
The Thermals - Now We Can See
J. Tillman - Year in the Kingdom
Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport
Still Flyin - Never Gonna Touch the Ground
Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish I Were an Eagle

2010 already has the new Beach House, Laura Veirs, and Vampire Weekend so it's already better. And I think Surfer Blood is considered 2010 or else it would be on my 2009 list too.

I can't remember too much of what I listened to from this year but off the top of my head I would say my favourite albums would have been the ones from Group Bombino and Omar Souleyman.

I also really enjoyed Emeralds, Oneohtrix Point Never, Sun Araw and Blank Dogs.

After studying the top pfork list, I've only listened to 25 of the 50 albums. So I'm anxious to catch up. I don't subscribe to the pitchfork backlash that permeates everywhere I go. It's lead me to many many great discoveries.

Probably my most listened to albums of 2009 are Grizzly Bear, Ryan Leslie, The xx and Andrew Bird.

I should go back and listen to Bill Callahan again. I don't know why it didn't grab me. I'm a huge fan of his earlier work.

Has Vampire Weekend leaked yet?

pitchfork was a decent source for music recommendations before i developed a more individual taste. there isn't that much wrong with downloading all albums on that list or anything

there was just always too much they hyped i didn't like.

There's plenty of pfork recommended music I don't like. I'm too lazy to find another starting point for new music.

Pitchfork list is full of uninspired indie pap, as usual.

My list includes Mastodon, Kylesa, Between the Buried and Me, Converge, Shrinebuilder, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, and Wilco. Haven't heard the new albums by Brand New and Tortoise but I assume they are good and I'm looking forward to hearing them.

Both Pitchfork and Entertainment Weekly have MPP as album of the year.

people were leaving in droves at animal collective's bonnaroo set

going through the motions - aimless noise - poor body language - a failure overall
