This year, more than one person I know have told me that, despite their personal distaste for Walmart's business practices and poor atmosphere, they have begun shopping there because of the tough economic times. This must be exactly what it's like to see a friend start hanging out with a bad crowd.

I'm still shopping at Target, as if that's better.

We haven't really been hit by the rough times... I've been shopping there for that reason for years. I just can't fathom spending twice or three times as much at a place like Whole Foods just because it's Whole Foods. :/

I do shop at Kroger sometimes though, if they have a badass beer and cheese selection. And they usually have good deals on meats.

I think, overall, Walmart hurts America.

Grocery stores (at least around here) are on a major decline because people are flocking to walmart and target for their grocery purchases.

i just saw the South Park Wallmart episode.

We don't have many supermarkets of that size here, and i'm pretty glad about that.

I wish the Walmart employees (and other large retail chains) would unionize. Just like the Casino and airport employees do.

Rite Aid only has a presence on the east coast, north east, michigan and west coast....oh! and some of the south. It will probably be a loooong time before they try and expand anywhere else.

Interesting fact I just read while working on an organizational development project: In 1987, Rite Aid was the largest drugstore chain in terms of store count.

Rite Aid and its clone, Walgreens, are ridiculously expensive. even compared to Target, let alone Walmart.
