Default spinoff: origin of your last name

country & meaning..

My last name is Calderon and it comes from Spain and derives from caldera which translates into cauldron in English. My ancestors were caldera/cauldron makers.

NOW U.

despite popular belief, hinojosa is spanish in origin

Hinojosa
Hinojosa is of a Castillian origin, extended into Andalucia and Extramadura. This surname is sometimes seen as Ynojosa. The Hinojosa surname is derived from the aromatic plant, "hinojo" whose bulb is edible. The leaves of this plant are fragrant and they have a licorice taste. The Hinojosa surname originated in areas which cultivated this plant "Hinojos" or fennel. It is a herb that grows wild in Spain mainly in the provinces of Salamanca, Toledo, Tervel, Burgos, Guadalajara, Cuenca, and Soria.
Juan Francisco de Hinojosa, poblador, from Trujullo, Caceres, Spain arrived in New Spain in 1522, served with various entradas, and by 1525 was a vecino of Mexico City. Hinojosa was married to Beatriz Mejia de Tapia of Trujillo and had a son, Francisco, who came to Mexico City 1537. He was a vecino there ten years later.
One of the first in the Nuevo Reino de Leon was Lt. Diego de Hinojosa Montano born in Rio Blanco 1640 and was killed by Indians in 1673 in the Valley of San Antonio. Diego was the son of Alonso Montano (1540-?) and Vitalia Hinojosa. He married Maria Cantu about 1663 and had at least seven children.
One son of Lt. Diego de Hinojosa was Diego Hinojosa Cantu who married on April 29, 1694 to Josefa de la Garza. Diego and Josefa have a family of which one is a son, Captain Juan Jose Hinojosa de la Garza. He married Antonia Ines Baez Benavides Guerra. A daughter, later to be known as "the cattle queen" is born to this couple. She was Rosa Maria Hinojosa Benavides, who later marries Jose Maria Balli Guerra, parents of the Priest Jose Nicolas Balli, who was deeded Padre Island.
Coat of Arms: A red shield with three green fennel (Hinojo) plants arranged in an inverted triangle shape.

My last name is Tussey, but I have no idea of it's origins. It's a dumb last name anyway. Way too close to "pussy". Plus "T" sounds like "P", making it even worse.

i think mine's cuban. it's hispanic, i know that much.
i have no idea what it means.

edit: Definition: 1) A patronymic name derived from Pero, Pedro, Petrus, Petros, etc. - meaning "son of Pero." The suffix "ez" means "descendant of" in Spanish. It is also believed that PEREZ comes from the apostle Simon, whom Jesus called "rock" (Pedro in Spanish means "rock") in tribute to his designation as the "rock" or foundation of the church. 2) Possibly derived from the name of the pear tree, "peral."

Surname Origin: Spanish

Alternate Surname Spellings: PERES, PERET, PERETZ, PERETS, PHAREZ, PAREZ, PERIS

I share it with a country musician

My last name is Polish, I know it was "Americanized" when my Great Grandparents came from Poland, but I have no idea what it means. It was something crazy like Jeszinowski but they turned it into Chesney.

How about we barter?
I'll trade you a cauldron for some of your cord.
