Arts school a magnet for applicants

It's getting harder to get into Booker T. Washington High School.

Officials at Dallas' arts magnet say all the good publicity its graduates are generating this year – think: Norah Jones, Erykah Badu, etc. – has created a spike in interest. So far, applications are 25 percent ahead of last year.

The school expects up to 500 students to compete for 200 openings. The next audition dates are March 8 and April 5 in the Dallas school district area and May 3 for out-of-district students.

Beside all the Grammys and national media attention, a new star may be rising for the school. Student Olivia Mojica, 17, is a contestant on American Idol.


mmmmhmmm you all best to watch american idol on tuesday too and vote for olivia.
