Red face Virgin America Airlines

This looks to be a pretty damn cool airline to be flying on. Here is a tube video on the in-flight entertainment experience:

I hate all airlines because I am scared of crashing to a firey death. I took a bunch of xanax last time I flew and it only made it worse. it like calmed me down to the point where instead of being clenched up and grabbing my leg really hard, I was only scared enough to cry and make a fool out of myself.

I flew for my first time last week and it was much easier than I thought it would be. Once you're in the air it's like being on a bus or something.

Good luck to them. The FAA so far isn't granting their allowance licensing.

yeah I am okay in the air unless we are flying in clouds. I do not like clouds. clouds = turbulence and limit my ability to see.

I also do better on longer flights because generally they go higher and are smoother. I guess my big thing is landing.. takeoff... eh... whatever, you get a bit of turbulence from the planes that have taken off before you but nothing major. IT seems like every time I am landing it's in a city that's right over a mountain range so the wind is changing direction a lot.

I can understand the cloud thing and I did grab my armrests pretty hard during my first take-off also. I did not have that much turbulence, just some on the way home but it wasn't that bad. I won't lie though - I was a nervous mess before we took off. Have you flown a lot or it is just a somewhat new thing?

what was I over-generalizing? that I don't like clouds because they cause turbulence? or that when planes take off they create an eddy in the air behind them? or that air going over mountains is more turbulent than air going over flat ground? all that is pretty standard

and I've been flying for a while and I don't AVOID flying, but I just stress out about it a lot before it happens. I don't really know what triggered the fear because when I first started flying I wasnt afraid at all.

Not necessarily. Turbulence is caused by air convections. While flying through a pressure system (where clouds naturally form) you will notice more turbulence, it isn't the clouds themselves that cause this. They are simply a biproduct of the weather - which causes the plane to vary course.

While longer flights do have a higher cruising altitude most of the time, it's not necessarily smoother. Turbulence at 42,000 feet is wicked rough. Cruising altitudes for any flight will be mostly calm because the airlines find least turbulent routes.

well short flights that last 45 minutes are usually more turbluent than the ones that have the opportunity to fly higher and find better cruising altitudes.

reading the comments on YouTube, I find it fascinating people seem to be more interested and excited about playing Doom on airplane than about the parameters of the seats/room for legs.

for some reason, i've developed a slight fear of flying as well. i've been flying since i was a baby and am on a plane at least 4 times a year. but for some reason, the older i get, the more nervous i get being in the air.

it just doesn't feel right to be in the air. and turbulance has really freaked me out. i just got back from new york last night and it helps if i've been drinking a bit. but god damn i get creeped out.

That's because flights that are 45 minutes never reach a cruising altitude.

yeah it helps if I drink before and during the flight, but I like to get early flights so that isn't ever really an option. Every time I get an afternoon/evening flight, something bad happens with my flight and i have to wait until the next morning.

drinking at the airport is fun. its socially acceptable to get tanked by your self before noon. sucks having to pee alot on the plane tho.

what they should do is let hot babes on at reduced prices or for free like nightclubs. theyll make tons of money

a lot of airlines already have satellite TV's in the seatback infront of you. and delta (maybe others?) have that trivia game that you can play with the other passengers on the plane.

coach has 20 inch wide seats, 32 inches of legroom

first class has 28 inch wide seats, 55 inches of legroom

no one here seems to be noting that their tickets are cheap as fuck, too. LAX to NYC for $129.

Yeah i want to fly VAA. Sounds cheap, comfy and entertaining. I like to fly. Its always a blast to look down on everything from up above. The only time i was worried was when i was flying into denver from Dallas. It felt like the plane was landing at too fast a speed. It was weird.
