Default heres another spinoff thread: when did you start college?

during high school? immediately following? waited a few years? never?
i want to know what yr status is as well (still attending / graduated / etc).

i guess it all depends on the situation but i wonder if its harder to finish college starting earlier or later. i always felt that most people who just go to college after high school because its expected of them or whatever probably drop out more often because you aren't ready for it / have no idea what you want to do / are just tired of having yet another chunk of school to look forward to. this is why i've waited 4 years and just started going back last spring. it was probably best for me because i really love it and am doing very well, which probably wouldn't have happened if i went at age 18.

I took AP classes in HS and then before my last year of HS I took classes at Washington University which is incidentally when I started posting here.

Then I went to college right out of HS, quit after a year, went to community college off and on and as of Fall '06 I'm at UCONN fulltime and will be done in Fall '08, hopefully.

I took two college courses my senior year of high school and went immediately on to college to study economics for 3 years. Though I pissed much of my time away I still managed to get through most of my classes and was only 3 semesters away from a degree. After the 3rd year I realized that I hated what I was studying and entered in a Paramedic program.

Currently I'm taking classes to get my BSN (nursing degree) in the hopes of either working aeromedical or continuing on to get my Nurse Practitioner or Nurse anesthetists degrees.

Graduated high school in 2005, started college the next year. Will graduate in 2009, as scheduled.

Looking back, all the commotion over AP courses in high school was such a joke. I took two of them, didn't help/hurt me any in college. They were like every other high school class, except slightly harder.

Dude...strange, but I was just talking about high school classes the other day, and I told my friend that typing was one of the best classes I took. I used to chicken-peck before that class, and even though now I don't type exactly how we were taught, I'm pretty close to the way it's supposed to be done. I type a lot faster and better than when I was 15.

Yeah, I took language AP's and they were a fucking breeze for the most part. (Spanish and French)

I had a similar experience. Hitting college without good typing skills is a Rx for misery. That and my college english class (in which we did nothing but write papers) were a good primer for the grind of knocking out page after page in college.

The only thing I use my AP spanish for these days is talking to drunk Mexicans on the side of the road.

During high school, when I was 15, I started going to the local community college. I took a break between ages 20-22 and have now transferred to a University.... Starting on my last-ish year in two weeks.

Yeah I took dual credit classes in high school and then went straight on @ 17 to college. I started at a junior college and then transferred to a 4 year uni after that though.

No, I went to college and took college courses to fulfill my high school requirements. Doing that saved my life; I dreaded high school.
