That's the point, I'm working with a documentarist who just did a paper on him, turns out he wasn't such a sad guy after all.

Plus, it's sad....there's the night, a raven, a raincloud, blue! how many more icons of sadness do we need?! i'm not about to photoshop pictures of goth chicks all over this just for dramatic effect!

Surely it's because the sheer magnitude of your beauty is a far cry from anything I could possibly create.

Woah baby. I like it, Matt. I don't think those are bubbles of happiness, either. They totally sent me into the twilight zone.

Ha, that’s it.
Maybe it’s cause I was expecting… I don’t know. But your work is great, and this just seems… mediocre. I don’t know.
If it was on a shelf in a shop, I’d casually wander over it without giving it special attention.

You know?

Take this constructively!

I like the Raven and the Poe.
But the background seems…. Off. I don’t know. But yeah. I’ve decided it’s the background that’s setting it off for me.

I'll post them as soon as they're done, this is very very beginning stages still, all my illustrations and designs are on paper.

I already finished Lenore and the type is great! it's really expressive.

you put a raven on the cover of a poe collection? is this like a "for dummies" book or something?

also those little light blots remind me of one of the less popular star wars dvd case covers and the cloud of an ice cream shop's logo

Get rid of the cloud, make the raven look bad ass and make the POE blood red and change the font to something ye olde. Keep the lights.

I think Poe is a great enough writer to avoid having a singular image associated him every single time. I mean, Matt you seem to be very avoidant of cliches but associating a Raven with Poe has to be one of the biggest cliches in all of design.

I don't know. I'd be extremely happy if ravens were associated with me.
