Cool I am so tired I might pass out - aka What are your weekend plans?

I've spent the last week and a half going to work, going to the hospital to visit my Granny (spent over 15 hours between 2 different hospitals), last weekend I had to spend my Sat in the hospital, then coming into work for an hour to help my boss with something, then Sunday we spent most of the day at a surprise 80th birthday party (then watching the Bears game of course).

I am SO god damn tired, I'm so glad it's Friday...and even though I will be spending some more time in the hospital, I have shit else to do.

Tonight my best friend may come in from U of I and we'll hang out, if not then tomorrow she will...Ari is coming over and we're all going to catch up for a while - then Tina and I will go for girl talk while Ari and Mark play video games and make music.

Sunday we get to put up the plastic on our windows and I'll probably spend the rest of the day sitting in my own drool if I'm lucky.

YAY FOR THE WEEKEND!!!

Sorry to hear about your sick Granny. My mom just got back in contact with her biological mom and apparently it was just in the knick of time, 'cause now I got a sick Granny, too! She's on an oxygen tank and is in/out of the hospital, it's really sad because there's so much I want to ask her.

But, as far as my weekend plans go... Today I'll go to class until 4, then I'll come home and make index cards for my research paper I have to write next week over fall break. I'll prolly do some laundry, too, and clean the apartment 'cause Saturday we're leaving to go hoooome! It's going to be loads of fun because my sister-in-law, step-sister-in-law and granny-in-law will all be in town, too.

Card games galore !

Last time I went home my sister-in-law, who lives in Petaluma, came home too and brought the tastiest bottle of wine with her. I don't ever drink wine, but this stuff was sweet and light and delicious. God bless Sonoma County.

Aw wow, that's so sad Well good luck, I hope she gets better.

It's really fucking with me, this whole thing - my Granny is one of the family members that helped raise me most of my childhood, and she lived with us from the time I was 13 till I moved out when I was 18 and I still see her at least 1-3 times a week.

She had a stroke a week from Tuesday, and it affected the part of her brain that understands speech/language so she had a real hard time and is just starting to get better at having a conversation...she's got "aphasia". She finally got to come home on Saturday and then this past Tuesday she had chest pains and was rushed to the ER in an ambulance. Since they have to rush you to the nearest hospital, she was waiting there for 2 days until a room in the heart ward at her normal hospital was freed up. She's finally over there now...I feel so bad for her. Seeing her last night all strapped up in gurney when they were transporting her FINALLY, it really hit me hard.

I told my Mom after all of this I think I've been inspired to try to get into nursing somehow. I don't know what yet but I'm thinking about it.

Prayers to both of our Grannys

Jesus ... Seriously

I know a lot of people that are getting or are already in the nursing field... My mother-in-law is one of them. She's been a nurse for over 20 years and I'm pretty sure it's like her entire life. It really takes a special kind of person to go into that field, I'm not sure if I could do it.

That sounds like a really terrifying experience for both you and your Granny. Luckily mine lives like 2 or 3 hours away with all of my aunts and uncles, so I won't be going through anything quite so traumatic. That came out really poorly and callous, but I think you know what I meant.

No I know. It's okay

Not to mention my aunt, who I've mentioned here is also my boss and I pretty much hate her, especially when it comes to my Granny. She just rags and rags on my Granny - she said it was her fault for having the stroke! And that's only the tip of it. My Mom and I take care of her, and my aunt thinks we lock her up in a cage or something. So it's been trying here at work too, dealing with my boss talking shit about my Mom. Eck. Anyway.

I'd love to get into nursing, it wasn't anything I ever thought of until spending so much time in the hospital with her...but I'm going to research more into it and figure out what I'd like to do.

Oh yeah! I almost forgot Chris and I will be doing this as well, 'cept we'll be staking out different stores so we can just call each other on our cell phones when we get one (or don't).

Also Sunday afternoon I'm going to a tea party with my mammy and our friends! I think my brother and his family will be there, too. I almost forgot all about it. That will be so much fun, my mom is a hilarious old lady and I haven't seen her in a while.

The different stores thing is a good idea, there's a futureshop very close to this bestbuy but they open 2 hours later. I don't really have anyone to team up with though.

You don't have any friends that are staking out stores, too?

I honestly didn't even think of the different stores idea and was worried we definitely weren't going to get a Wii, but when Chris mentioned the idea it was like a lightbulb going off in my head. Kinda like this guy:

I just hope it doesn't rain on Sunday. :\

its not supposed to rain but its gonna be freezing. just to be safe i might get there 4 hours early. they're giving out tickets 2 hrs before opening so if i'm there for 2 hours before that i should be safe. if i call up tomorrow and they have like 200 i will revise my plans.

Now is a great time to do it and the money is ridiculously good. You will have to kiss your beloved reefer goodbye though, as I did three years ago. Even as a brand new nurse there are plenty of places offering $10,000-20,000 signing bonuses.

And yeah, sorry about your Granny as well.

I got a flu shot today so now I feel all sleepy. I'm going to clean up the apartment a bit and cook up a storm - I'm making curried chicken and calzones. I might make an apple pie after if I have energy. Tomorrow will be wonderful couch potato day, followed up by going out with my buddy tomorrow night. I'm enjoying a wonderful, lazy weekend after 3 weeks of non-stop partying and debauchery.

NO NOT THE POT!!!! I figured as much...I wonder if there's any way around that cuz I would guess I'd need pot even more in that field...after a long day of seeing people crying and sick and miserable.

But yeah, the ambulance lady I talked to about it last night said that they're short on nurses and the pay is great, I told her I had a really weak stomach for blood but she said you get used to it. I think I would...I mean hell, I can clean up shit and puke now without missing a step from years of dealing with dogs.

It may or may not work out but it's something to think about and read about. I don't even know where to start though.
