Thumbs up La Dolly Vita appreciation thread

Let's hear it for this kick-ass track.
  • A very different feel from most pumpkins songs, with the simple F-G bassy guitar riff.
  • Simple yet sweet lyrics.
  • The drumming is tight and perfect, but nicely understated until Jimmy lets loose at the end.
  • A unique and mesmerizing guitar solo from 0:57-1:07.
  • "Ooh-ooh-aah-ahh.... Aaaiiaaa."
  • One of the best guitar parts ever where the riff changes at 2:58.
  • A cuckoo clock. The song has a fucking cuckoo clock.
  • The classic big ending.
  • Rightly described by Billy Corgan as timeless, with a dignity all its own.

One of many reasons why I listen to Pisces Iscariot more than Siamese Dream.

i remember reading billy saying that the b-sides and rarities were a more accurate portait of the band, which i like to believe is true. i mean, those are songs that weren't rehashed to the point where they were 'suitable' for a real LP release. sounds just like a 4 people jamming. i love it.

three cheers for la dolly vita.

i remember when they used to play it during the arising!, it's was amazing to hear a song they didn't play live anymore.

and for the comment of the b-sides, it is usually said a great band can be recognized through its b-sides, so i guess there is no debate about the pumpkins being one of the greatest.
It's right, when you listen to siamese b sides, you hear a complete different band, cooler and simpler.

hourra for la dolly vita !

When they played it in Detroit I think there was a collective OMIFUK.

Three cheers for this song. So awesome.

The big ending is what does it for me. That's the band at it's very best.

Awesome song. I think I probably listen to Pisces Iscariot more often than any other Pumpkins album nowadays.
