I'm Ready
Mina Loy (M.O.H.)
To Love Somebody
A100
Johanna
Pride (In The Name Of Love)
pretty, pretty STAR
DIA
Bit (i think it was one of these, he was singing all alone to some techno)
At this point he proceeded to get out the flying V and tease a few chords of SNAIL!!!!
Walking Shade
TheCameraEye
All Things Change

I'm A King Bee/Today/Turning Japanese
Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock And Roll)
---
(The song where he repeats "always")
Speech - "shows like this remind me while I still do it. Oh, and next time i play here at the enormodome or wherever, I will be crushing you into the ground with the metal."
Billy was in a REALLY good mood, especially since he cut his thumb. I couldn't get a good look at his thumb (I was in the first section of tables to the right of the stage). The mix was pretty shoddy for the openers (waaaay too much bass), but improved with billy. He kept motioning to the sound man during the first few songs. At one point (I think in A100) Matt and billy were off and billy turned to matt and just started cracking up.
During Mina Loy, someone threw a poster up on stage and almost hit him. He didn't seem to care though, he picked it up and tossed it back (almost hit linda)
He played Pride In The Name Of Love (or the chorus of it anyways, I dont think the verse lyrics were the same). He hasn't done that yet on this tour, has he?
The pageant security were being DICKS about people taking pictures. I saw at least 4 camera phones get confiscated in about 30 seconds. They also closed off the floor just before corgan started. At the end of the show corgan was down in front shaking hands (space cleared up after the first encore and I was able to get down in front) and some guy hit him or something. Corgan flipped him off and kept going "hey man, you trying to kill me or something?"
All in all, GREAT show, and the thumb didn't seem to bother him much (he cut loose bigtime on To Love Somebody).

The crowd last night was definitely awesome, with the exception of the few token retards like the guy you mention who apparently tried to pull Billy offstage, a guy who was crowdsurfing at the front left of the stage (we surfed him on over to the security goons who roughed him up and kicked him out, per venue rules! ha!), the people who threw the poster and the shirt onstage... I'm just glad they didn't ruin Billy's mood. I think the overwhelmingly positive reception from the majority of the audience helped. Billy'd crack a smile from us cheering guitar solos and such and we'd just go more nuts... Haha.
Billy seemed kind of sad after the show when he was leaving and stopped to sign autographs for many of the hundreds of people who waited afterwards. I didn't have the heart to really actively try to get him to sign anything of mine. I'd intended to just get a handshake, but he said "no handshakes" to someone just in front of me (I suppose because of the cut on his right hand the pen in his left), so that was that. We fans certainly are a demanding bunch, and I feel sorry that Billy has to put up with that aspect of the rockstar/hero/savior-fan relationship.
Oh, yeah, and the Pumpkins teases kicked my ass.

yes he played that song at the second chicago show, it's called "i want you"... according to linda's online journal they worked it up at the soundcheck before our show.

Third row center in the balcony. Perfect view of the stage. My wife's pregnant and she felt the baby's first kick when Billy started playing! So I guess the baby either really likes (or dislikes) TFE :)
Where were you?

I was about three people deep at the front left of the stage (four after Billy came out and a couple short girls asked to stand in front of me). Right in front of where Billy first stopped to shake hands.

The St. Louis Post Dispatch's review is up: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/entertainment/reviews.nsf/concert/story/F0EB02252CFCC17E8625703800685494?OpenDocument
The reporter actually appears to know his Pumpkins... he mentioned the Today tease. Cool.
Also settles the quote dispute.
Corgan promised that his next St. Louis show would be at the "EnormoDome" and that he'll be "crushing you into the dust with the metal" - a statement sure to be picked apart by fans for a long time to come.

This was the first TFE show that I saw, but from the 13 other Billy shows I've seen, this must have been one of the better ones.
The only shows I've seen where Billy seemed this happy were the Dijali Zwan shows. This was one of the most enthusiastic crowds I have seen, especially since the "last shows." There was also some really interesting stage banter, as has been comented on.
Since it's been taped, I would highly recommend DL'ing it. The comment about "crushing you into dust with the metal" was priceless. He actually seemed a little choked up at the end when talking about how appreciative the audience had been.
Great show.

I don't know how people even got cameras IN. They patted everyone down that I saw. My girlfriend stupidly brought her camera in her purse even though I told her the Pageant doesn't allow them. We were near the front of the 21+ line, and had to go all the way back to the car, then get back in the LONG line. We still got a decent place in the pit, regardless.
The opening bands were Doris Henson (from Kansas City) and Crimea (from London, England). I didn't care for either one, and the crowd was downright beligerent when Crimea played. People were shouting "YOU SUCK" and "BRING ON BILLY".

In Toronto they didn't check us at all, they only checked IDs, people had backpacks and purses, my friend crotched his dat and they didn't even look, I saw this dude holding up a camcorder in the air right in front of a guard during the show and nobody did anything. That guy was a retard, he kept alternating between his camcorder and a regular digital camera. If he kept that camcorder in the air for the whole show I bet someone would have knocked him down, it was big and blocked the view. Oh yeah I think that was the same guy holding up that flag. That guy was dumb! If you are reading this... you're dumb, guy!!

It took me 2 times seeing them in Chicago, but I think Doris Henson is pretty cool. If nothing else, their bassist is fucking awesome. I read on their website about their band history, and it says Byron (bassist) is a "local legend", having played with several bands. I will definitely see them when they return here. Plus they are very nice guys.
Crimea I wasn't as in to, but their guitarist was playing some good spacey melodies with his slide.

Someone outside of the Pageant last night was showing off his video camera recording of Billy. No clue how he got it in. I didn't bother bringing my camera along because I knew I'd be searched (a friend tried to get one in to the Zwan show there a couple years ago and we had to walk back to my car to stash it and ended up getting bad spots inside), but I wish I'd at least kept one in my car so that I could've gotten a picture of Billy when he came out to sign autographs. If he really does play the "enormodome" the next time he hits St. Louis I likely won't get a chance to be so close to him... ah, well.

weird. i wasn't at this show, but i saw zwan at the pageant in march 2003. i crotched my camera, and took a whole roll of pics on the very front row. a security guy even saw me doing it and ignored it. i guess it's just a matter of those guys' attitudes the night of the show.

My wife just had our camera in her purse (we had been sightseeing the past couple days). Then, when we saw how tight security was, I decided not to risk losing all of our pictures from the trip (or my $400 digi camera and $150 xD card). Finally, during the second encore, I got it out and took about 6. Light levels were so low that only a couple turned out non-blurry.
We were in the first row center section of the balcony.
I think the Pageant is the nicest venue I've ever been too. Aside from me getting a camera in, the security was crazy tight! I was glad I wasn't crotching my taping rig, because there was no way I was going to get away with that.

i was in the dead center towards the back of the floor.
i wanted to bring a disposable camera, and my mom said she had one so i went to the hotel and grabbed hers but she missunderstood and it was a regular camera. my girlfriend (lips on her tshirt and pigtails. 5'4") and i were waiting in line and relized that the camera didn't even have film. well fuck. so i put in in my cargo hoping nothing would happen and as we got to the front of the line i saw the pat down. im like well i'm fucked..but they patted me down and didn't find it LOL.. but as funny and as lucky as i was, it was kind of scary. they didn't find a regular size camera in my cargo? what if it was a gun? dimebag was killed because he "broke up pantera" at a rather small venue. makes you think...
anyway doris hensen sucks ass. i had a problem with every members' stage pressence except for the drummer. lets start with the obvious, for those that were there....the trombonist. what a fucking tool. he looked like a middle aged pervert and his on stage "dancing" reminded me of the atrocious dancing of elaine on seinfeld. the guitarist did some repeditive motion with his guitar. my girlfriend referred it to something that devo would do. as for the lead singer, he was way to flamboant to act as spastic as he did. he did these gay little dances and stupid "disturbed" smiles. they didn't rock and ive seen better acts support local bands in clubs.
The Crimea were cool, i didn't like their music but atleast they were solid. kinda modest mouse like. and there was a stupid girl screeming you suck weres billy. it wasn't "the crowd" or a bunch of people. just one stupid girl. i was the one who told her to shut the fuck up and "youre drunk, go home." she muddered something like "you go home" the crowd reacted very negatively to her heckling and as they should. it was incredibly rude and uncalled for. this band is probably so psyched about the oppertoinity to open for corgan and showcase what theyve got. let them do their thing, and good for them. yeah they might have sucked, i didn't like them, but they're onstage, you're not. ya know? damn that pissed me off. corgan would have slapped her.

Me I my girlfriend were there, she entered us in the drawing to meet billy after the show (you had to by TFE album to enter), what the hell its like a twenty dollar raffle ticket, so before we were leaving the venue, we went to check on the raffle results.
We won! (there were 9 other winners you could bring one guest and ask him questions and get a autograph) It was a nice suprise to a great evening! We have been fans forever...I ask him about his thumb, he said it wasn't that bad ( he had it taped up) I shook his hand and thanked him for the music and the great time, and my girlfriend made him give here a hug! his final statment on stage "crushing you into the dust with the metal" as he grinded his fist into his palm gives my high hopes for the future!

a few corrections to the above posted set list. i saw the actual set list, pride in the name of love, was written as "I WANT YOU" i don't know the song or the correct title but thats what was down on the paper. there was "BIT 1" and "BIT 2" listed but im not sure what order, and as previously mentioned, it was strayz being sung solo. and that was not a "flying V" that he had strapped on during it. it was a dimebag series washburn with floyd rose pickups and all.
i heard no "snail tease" but the begining of snail is just an A chord and variations of it soo....i don't know what u heard.
anyway he blew into walking shade after that and it was bitching.
on the band's setlist, it had KING BEE then AC/DC written on it for the encore. which is interesting, because the second encore wasn't even listed on the setlist so maybe it was a last call decision.
ok. there's not alot to say that hasn't been said. i saw the second to last pumpkins show at the UC and i saw zwan in Iowa City.
the UC show can't be compaired, however between zwan in iowa city and bc in saint louis, his mood was considerably more happy in SL. he seemed even more happy then he did at the record release party. everyone picked up on his mood. he smiled when we cheered every little thing, and it was like he was suprised smiling.
i think an important "rant" thats been left out is the one about the tour dates. he said (and this is no means verbatum) "when we first made the dates, this show wasn't on here.(boos) and i was like...'what about saint louis'? (cheers)so then after awhile, i was told tickets wern't selling (boos) but here you are! (loud cheering)"
that stupid bitch that was screaming u suck to the crimea, started to get baligerent again and started chanting "SMASHING PUMPKINS!!...TONIGHT TONIGHT!!" and requesting pumpkin tunes.. i was afraid bill would hear this and it would ruin the good show. or atleast the chance of a today tease, which of course it didn't and he did it anyway.
so all in all, i think the turn out, and crowd response suprised/impressed/shocked/flatured him... at the end he came out to shake hands and then on the right side of the stage, he kicked someones hand, said fuck u man and flicked him off.. i guess he tried to pull at him. corgan then continued to shake hands, he seemed alittle perturbed but some fan said awesome show and billy said "THANK YOU" like he ment it and understood that kid was a bad apple.
then came the soon to be famous rant.
"i don't have alot to say that i didn't already say in these songs, but i've taken a strange path in my life, and im not always sure its the right one, but shows like this reasure my choices (or something of that nature) he seemed humbled by the crowds cheers, his voice couldn't even break thru the cheers, at one point he said "excuse me im talking" jokingly of course. then he said, as was already quoted, "next time im at the enormodome (crowd cheers he laughs) or wherever, I will crush you into the dust (making a fist and pounding it downward once) with the metal". he droped the mike and walked off. fucking awesome show, corgan. promising as well.
my girlfriend is a select pumpkin fan, liked some zwan and some of the new cd, and was fairly excited to see the show, partly just because i was. at the end of the show i saw her yelling and cheering and all in all, LOVING the experience. i knew billy wouldn't disappoint. when we got to the hotel, she couldn't stop talking about him. she thought he was so cute on stage with his little manurisims and facial expressions. she said it was the best show shes ever been to. her opinion is one that comes from those "passive" fans that we talk about as politicans do with the silent majority or the undecided vote. the people that need to be convinced in order for success
the people that arn't fans yet, or arn't experienced with his talent, and how very VERY alive it really still is need to see this tour. i wish he would extend the US leg of it.
as a corgan can do no wrong fan, i knew the show would be good, but to an average music listener like her, i thought that said alot about his performance. she listened to his cd the entire car ride home. i think it says this is good material, and hes a good performer. not just cuz my girl likes it, but just who my girl is. someone with a fair opinion about music, but is as average as the next person belonging to the music buying (supporting) public.

You're really basing your whole opinion of them on their stage presence? C'mon, now, we've all heard stories of Billy's early performing days. Everyone has to start somewhere. They might not've looked as tight as the crimea, but I found their music far more enjoyable. The crimea just went on and on and had some decidedly bad tunes. I mean, seriously. "If she gets herpes, I want herpes?" "We'll walk through the streets like lottery winners on acid?" How can they take themselves seriously?

i guess the crimeas' cd is called lattery winners on acid. i thought they were lame too, you don't have to rip on them. i just felt bad because of the heckler. she was a stupid bitch and was rude during billy too. both bands sucked.
and doris hensens music sucks too. they were just a clusterfuck on stage. i was embarresed for them. there are atleast 5 local bands around iowa city that are more worthy then them to open for corgan. and that says nothing about those bands.
atleast there's some hope. if you're in a band, and you suck, who knows, you could get asked to open for a 25 million album selling recording artist.
