View Full Version : Tilt to be released on cd
TheDeuce 07-05-2005, 08:49 AM I work overnight at the Target here in Westminster, Maryland stocking shelves. I'm lucky enough to work in the electronics section where I get to mess with cds, dvds, and electronics all night. A couple nights ago we got a box of cds in that aren't on the shelf yet. I can't remember exactly what the cd is called, but it's a compilation and a "Target exclusive". The cd has "Tilt" on it, so all of those wanting to own this on cd (or want to own a "loseless" version) will be able to get it soon. The cd is priced at 7 or 8 bucks, i can't remember. I don't work again until Thursay night, so I'll try and post more details then.
spacey raygun 07-05-2005, 08:59 AM i'll have to stop by my local target to check that out... thanks for the tip!
automata 07-05-2005, 10:43 AM Dude, thats great, thanks for the heads up, I find it weird that Target will be putting this out....maybe there is another song called tilt??
TheDeuce 07-05-2005, 12:08 PM Nope. It said:

stellawasadiver 07-05-2005, 12:09 PM when is it released?
Punkishlyevil 07-05-2005, 12:10 PM I work at Target also, and we didn't even have copies of TheFutureEmbrace...

Dude thanks for the info!
sweter33 07-05-2005, 12:13 PM cool, but...

 yeah like it really will be.
It happens, I've bought singles only to find out some of the b-sides were mp3 sourced. I've also heard one indie band released an mp3 sourced album. I don't remember which one.

Thats fucking horrible. I wish you knew what band it was. Probably not a very good one heh.
Fattening Ass 07-05-2005, 02:23 PM This is just retarded to think this. Target is gonna use a download from iTunes on its newest exclusive CD when they can probably get the song from the label as they've done with their past exclusive cds? Yeah suuuuure.
Cool As Ice Cream 07-05-2005, 02:52 PM Why would they give a song exclusively to Target?
Wouldn't that be the same as giving your song exclusively to Pepsi?
Please feel free to explain. I'm not familiar with Target or their exclusive compilations.
ZackZ 07-05-2005, 02:56 PM Hopefully it's not MP3 sourced. Oh, the folly.
On a side note, does anyone know for sure what the Bonus Tracks are on the 40 dollar TFE?
spacey raygun 07-05-2005, 03:18 PM i went to target today and the lady didn't know what i was talking about.

Please feel free to explain. I'm not familiar with Target or their exclusive compilations. Target has some dumb comps they put out every now and then. They did a special CD for U2 called "7" that had some exclusive b-sides and remixes. Their current title for dumb collection songs is called "Studio Red" or some shit. They're just another special market-type cd. You'll probably see other reprise artists (or artists under the same umbrella reprise is on) on the same cd, if its even true that it will be released.

Thanks for providing the tracklisting and link, I appreciate it. As for the Foo Fighters track, which you can listen to on the link you provided, it appears to be live. Interesting. Wonder if any good bands were on Red Room Volumes 1-3

Yeah, but I was checking their site and I couldn't figure out:
- if they ship overseas
- if the Red Room CD will be made available through the online shop
I performed a search through their page and it returned several titles related to "red room", but none of them were the compilation (or previous editions of it). Target's music store seems linked to Amazon in some way. So at this point I'm not sure if ordering online from Target is a possibility for overseas costumers...
... but if you have any experience with this online store and know how to help, be my guest.

By the way, they didn't have Corgan's album when it was released, but they have it now, along with a bunch of other albums that are from artists on this compilation.
Thanks!
np Long Way To The Top  <-- I didn't realize Linda's vocal parts are really good on this song.
Fattening Ass 07-12-2005, 07:31 PM This CD is odd btw. Alot of the songs list are either remixes, obvious b-sides or live. The Live tracks don't list it as being live either. The Louis XIV song is a remix/different mix but it isn't listed as one. The Foo Fighters, Doves and Bloc Party tunes are live and aren't listed.

davin 07-12-2005, 11:32 PM I picked it up too.
First 3 trax are good...and I lost interest after that. best quality tilt i have heard. I have a system that really brings out the flaws out of mp3s....based on what I heard today, the Target CD is substantially better and doesn;'t plateau on both the high and low ends of frequency.
audiopumpkin10 07-13-2005, 12:08 AM bought my copy already too...
i was interested in Volumes 1-3 but lost it when I found out that 2 & 3 were ALL hip hop

The Target I work at had TFE the day it came out. My store might be bigger though, and that might be why. Any idea what size your store is?
Quiet 07-13-2005, 09:02 AM I haven't listened to the entire CD yet, but what I've heard is crap. Not listing several of the songs as live/remixes is pretty misleading if you ask me. "Bill Murray" is okay, but I really don't need to hear it more than two or three times. Even "Tilt" disappointed me... someone said it sounded more like the Pumpkins than TFE, but it doesn't. It would fit in perfectly right in between "DIA" and "I'm Ready". Then again, the CD was only $5.99, so it's not a big deal. I wouldn't recommend anyone go buy it though... just download "Tilt".

I don't know how big mine is. I know that we are the most profitable in the district, but as far as size goes, I can't really say for sure. I was kind of confused when they didn't have TFE when it was first released though.

Quiet 07-13-2005, 03:09 PM Seriously though... I don't see what the big deal is about "Tilt". Yes, it's a good song, but if it were on TFE, it wouldn't really stand out to me. Sort of like "DIA"... a song I enjoy when I'm hearing it, but not one that I really give much thought to once it's over. And I don't see how it sounds like the Pumpkins at all. I don't know... I get the feeling if it weren't a b-side, nobody would be talking about it.
I don't think Tilt would fit in on the album so maybe people who hate the album like it for that reason. I guess a song like Strayz doesn't fit either... I don't know.

Strayz is one of the best songs on TFE though. I used to hate All Things Change, but after listening to it over and over i think its a great song... I love the entire album, after giving it a chance. Tilt would probably fit somewhere in the first 5 songs
Do you even like All Things Change? I just hate the ending to it. I also don't like Sorrows cause I hate how he sings it!@!

Year of the Rabbit's album was pretty awesome. It was very straight forward rock, and while nothing was that innovative, its a solid album with damn good songs. I guess people like Billy havemade me interested in sounds that evolve.
Failure rules. I like all of all Ken Andrews' stuff.

Whoa I haven't heard anyone talk about Year of the Rabbit for a long time! I love their album.
Yeah, I love Failure. Year of the Rabbit was kinda disapointing to me. You don't find many people that have heard of them tho, it's true.
BTW, to whoever posted the Tilt FLAC, thanks bunches, that was very cool.

Failure rules. I like all of all Ken Andrews' stuff. I think the Year of the Rabbit album was a pretty good rock record. Ken Andrews has a gift for making awesome music. Unfortunately he can't seem to get himself on the radar. I think he's done an excellent job as a producer as well. You can definately tell if Andrews had a hand in something by how it sounds. I love what he does as ON. I wonder what a Ken Andrews produced Billy/SP cd would sound like....

Yeah, I like his PRODUCTION work too. I have all the ON stuff, YotR, Failure.......the most recent thing I got was the new StarFlyer 59 album. Produced by Ken Andrews, and you can tell. Good disc...and a decent band...if you like spacey rock. You probably do...since you are on this board...
This is a great song.
If "All Things Change" can be on TFE but a song like "Tilt" cannot, well, I'm a bit confused. :D
davin 07-19-2005, 03:25 PM Since we were talking about Failure and Ken Andrews on this thread....
From blinkerthestar.com
"As Jordon and Sofia near completion of their as yet untitled debut album and project, a new band has emerged featuring Jordon, Failure’s Ken Andrews, Medicine’s Brad Laner, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Abandoned Pools’ Tommy Walter, Creeper Lagoon’s Sharky Laguana, and RCA recording artist Charlotte Martin. LADNA (Los Angeles Digital Noise Academy), as it is called, is a collaborative project initiated by Ken Andrews. Things are just starting to get rolling; more later."

Thats some online artist collab thing. Sounds cool, but who knows when anything ken andrews related will be online/out (sans producing/editing/mixing for other bands)
