View Full Version : Tilt to be released on cd

I work overnight at the Target here in Westminster, Maryland stocking shelves. I'm lucky enough to work in the electronics section where I get to mess with cds, dvds, and electronics all night. A couple nights ago we got a box of cds in that aren't on the shelf yet. I can't remember exactly what the cd is called, but it's a compilation and a "Target exclusive". The cd has "Tilt" on it, so all of those wanting to own this on cd (or want to own a "loseless" version) will be able to get it soon. The cd is priced at 7 or 8 bucks, i can't remember. I don't work again until Thursay night, so I'll try and post more details then.

It happens, I've bought singles only to find out some of the b-sides were mp3 sourced. I've also heard one indie band released an mp3 sourced album. I don't remember which one.

This is just retarded to think this. Target is gonna use a download from iTunes on its newest exclusive CD when they can probably get the song from the label as they've done with their past exclusive cds? Yeah suuuuure.

Why would they give a song exclusively to Target?

Wouldn't that be the same as giving your song exclusively to Pepsi?

Please feel free to explain. I'm not familiar with Target or their exclusive compilations.

ZackZ

Please feel free to explain. I'm not familiar with Target or their exclusive compilations. Target has some dumb comps they put out every now and then. They did a special CD for U2 called "7" that had some exclusive b-sides and remixes. Their current title for dumb collection songs is called "Studio Red" or some shit. They're just another special market-type cd. You'll probably see other reprise artists (or artists under the same umbrella reprise is on) on the same cd, if its even true that it will be released.

Yeah, but I was checking their site and I couldn't figure out:

- if they ship overseas
- if the Red Room CD will be made available through the online shop

I performed a search through their page and it returned several titles related to "red room", but none of them were the compilation (or previous editions of it). Target's music store seems linked to Amazon in some way. So at this point I'm not sure if ordering online from Target is a possibility for overseas costumers...

... but if you have any experience with this online store and know how to help, be my guest.

First 3 trax are good...and I lost interest after that. best quality tilt i have heard. I have a system that really brings out the flaws out of mp3s....based on what I heard today, the Target CD is substantially better and doesn;'t plateau on both the high and low ends of frequency.

I haven't listened to the entire CD yet, but what I've heard is crap. Not listing several of the songs as live/remixes is pretty misleading if you ask me. "Bill Murray" is okay, but I really don't need to hear it more than two or three times. Even "Tilt" disappointed me... someone said it sounded more like the Pumpkins than TFE, but it doesn't. It would fit in perfectly right in between "DIA" and "I'm Ready". Then again, the CD was only $5.99, so it's not a big deal. I wouldn't recommend anyone go buy it though... just download "Tilt".

Seriously though... I don't see what the big deal is about "Tilt". Yes, it's a good song, but if it were on TFE, it wouldn't really stand out to me. Sort of like "DIA"... a song I enjoy when I'm hearing it, but not one that I really give much thought to once it's over. And I don't see how it sounds like the Pumpkins at all. I don't know... I get the feeling if it weren't a b-side, nobody would be talking about it.

Strayz is one of the best songs on TFE though. I used to hate All Things Change, but after listening to it over and over i think its a great song... I love the entire album, after giving it a chance. Tilt would probably fit somewhere in the first 5 songs

No... I have nothing to trade, therefore I feel unwanted.

It's on a torrent, I think two different sites have it. Check the traders forum like I said.

Year of the Rabbit's album was pretty awesome. It was very straight forward rock, and while nothing was that innovative, its a solid album with damn good songs. I guess people like Billy havemade me interested in sounds that evolve.

Failure rules. I like all of all Ken Andrews' stuff.

Yeah, I love Failure. Year of the Rabbit was kinda disapointing to me. You don't find many people that have heard of them tho, it's true.

BTW, to whoever posted the Tilt FLAC, thanks bunches, that was very cool.

Unfortunately he can't seem to get himself on the radar. I think he's done an excellent job as a producer as well. You can definately tell if Andrews had a hand in something by how it sounds. I love what he does as ON. I wonder what a Ken Andrews produced Billy/SP cd would sound like....

Yeah, I like his PRODUCTION work too. I have all the ON stuff, YotR, Failure.......the most recent thing I got was the new StarFlyer 59 album. Produced by Ken Andrews, and you can tell. Good disc...and a decent band...if you like spacey rock. You probably do...since you are on this board...

This is a great song.

If "All Things Change" can be on TFE but a song like "Tilt" cannot, well, I'm a bit confused. :D

Since we were talking about Failure and Ken Andrews on this thread....

From blinkerthestar.com

"As Jordon and Sofia near completion of their as yet untitled debut album and project, a new band has emerged featuring Jordon, Failure’s Ken Andrews, Medicine’s Brad Laner, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Abandoned Pools’ Tommy Walter, Creeper Lagoon’s Sharky Laguana, and RCA recording artist Charlotte Martin. LADNA (Los Angeles Digital Noise Academy), as it is called, is a collaborative project initiated by Ken Andrews. Things are just starting to get rolling; more later."

Thats some online artist collab thing. Sounds cool, but who knows when anything ken andrews related will be online/out (sans producing/editing/mixing for other bands)
