Get one of them enclosure things and an internal drive, it'll be cheaper

I prefer Seagate drives but this Maxtor drive is pretty cheap. You might want to do research about how good their product is though.

It's like... well an enclosure housing thing that you plug into a USB or Firewire slot, then you whack an internal drive in and bingo - external drive. You can put CD burners and stuff in them too, I think the tradeoff is that they're not quite as smart looking. Or maybe there is no tradeoff, I don't know. Is this for a Mac?

This enclosure seems reasonable:

yeah, get the enclosure thing, don't buy extarnal hard-drive - from what i was looking at previously, it looked like those external drives don't last much longer than about one year.
