View Full Version : How many troops have died in and en-route to German hospitals?

My friend said to me the other day he read a statistic putting the total death toll of the war at almost 7000. This was because, he said, the media and the government never ******* the number of soldiers who have died in an en-route to German hospitals in their numbers because technically, they didn't die in Iraq. I'm not putting too much credence in this now, but if this is true, the Bush Administration is absolutely crooked.

There are a few articles here, they all quote the same numbers, but they're hardly substantial news sources.

there are a hell of a lot more dead than 7,000. Are speaking only of American troops and not counting Iraqi civilians?

Yes, I meant American casualties. I know nearly 100,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed.

Your friend's right about how they total the numbers up, but there's really no way of tracking a number like that - at least officially.

I think I heard somewhere that there were over 10,000+ soliders with amputations and/or life long disabilities now from Iraq.

All I know is if I was fighting there and lost my legs or arms and/or had pain for the rest of my life you might as well count me in along with the dead tally.

I was searching around several sites and apparently the "offical" wounded number is somewhere around 12,350.

However that number does not count certain combat situtations, illness or non-combat injury.

The real number could be closer to 15,000-20,000 wounded.

If you add on the death toll for the soliders you are looking at approximately 10% give or take a bit of the total forces there.

I don't think its really all that plausible that there's 5000+ soldiers out there who have been killed in Iraq that no one knows about. 5000 people with families who don't see their kid's name on the official lists and take it lying down? Unlikely. If my kid got blown up in Iraq, died in Germany, and then didn't get listed with the rest of the war dead, I'd throw a holy fit and call every newspaper, TV station, congressperson, local government office, and political website I could think of to get it taken care of. That there have been no such reported cases tells me that there's probably not much to this.

My guess would be those are the same sketchy sources that were already mentioned. There is no way I believe that many troops have died.

And I kinda have some inside info in that department.

Most of those sources are the same ones that floated the "Presidential IQ" thing as absolute fact
