Anybody have any recommendations for any good live bands? I've been losing interest in the Pumpkins lately but I don't know what else to listen to.

Wrong Board

They are without a doubt the best live act I've ever seen. Download: U-Turn, Get Your Ass Outta Here, and Lost and Delirious.

Tori Amos is incredible live. I had some '01 shows shared on the hub. It's VERY light music, it's just her and a piano.

Everybody loves A Perfect Circle, and they don't disappoint live. But these recordings are scarce, especially good quality ones.

Coldplay or Travis are good Brit bands. Coldplay live stuff has been circulating like mad considering that they are a fairly new band. Coldplay also can play very well live, and there are a bunch of FMs and some SBDs.

Radiohead and Tool are both incredible live. Get a couple RH shows and you won't be disappointed. Tool never changes their setlist so you don't need to get many of those recordings.

And last but most certainly not least - U2. U2 puts on the best live shows, they are absolutely incredible shows. Get a couple shows from each tour.

Let's say they "seldom" change the setlist "in a radical manner". It's not been identical everytime I've seen them.

Agreed. Some of the '01 dat recordings are quite excellent.

I personally like listening to live Radiohead shows as well...I wish I could think of more bands to recommend to you right now....but my brain isn't working right at the moment, lol. Just download some shows by bands that you are interested in, most importantly. See how they sound live. If you like them, get more shows...if not, just delete the SHNs or whatever (assuming you're downloading these shows from hubs).

My favorite live band would have to be the Frogs. If you go see them, you'll either be totally amazed, or you'll think "that totally blew". It all depends what mood they're in. They've been known to throw things at the audience and storm off stage, etc. etc. but if you catch them on a good night, then they are the best live band out there. Either way it'll be a memorable show.

They're on tour now... check out http://www.thefrogs.net

I can't understand why nobody has mentioned Pearl Jam yet. Their shows are always very good.

Other good live bands: QOTSA (especially with Dave Grohl on drums), Travis, Jimmy Eat World, Trail of Dead, Bob Dylan, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth

garbage
sneaker pimps
faithless
tricky
korn

Right on Pat, everything Patton is involved with kicks ass.... Everyone here should keep their eyes open for a Minneapolis band 12Rods. The're releasing a KICK ASS record in early October (synthy pop/rock, very dynamic just as the pumpkins were soft/loud). No official word on the tour but they did it for their last two records and will for sure again. This is not like my buddy's band or anything - These guys are for real. The've been featured on MTV in the past, and have a track on the orange county soundtrack. I have a real strong feeling that this will be their breakthru record. my $.02

If you're down with the alt-folk/old-style country, check out Nickel Creek. They are probably the most talented musicians I've heard in six years.

http://www.nickelcreek.com/

For flat-out rock and roll, check my babies out - The Gadjits. They're from Kansas City and they know how to put on an amazing show. They're not on tour right now, but contact me if you'd like a live show or something. I run their website at:

http://www.thegadjits.com/

And for all of you following along at home, they just signed to RCA Records through a joint deal with Thick Records (which they've been on for awhile). Pretty exciting, so watch for them to start touring with some big names. *grin*

Also, a standard favorite of mine, Superdrag. There's a lot of live shows out there for them, and I believe quite a few fans on this board too. They're infamous for their radio single from 1996, but I believe that its popularity may have 'Sucked Out' the fact that they really know how to write a good song.

If I think of any others, I'll post again.

Swearing at Motorists' live show blows them all away. I saw "them" last night at the Mercury. There might have been only 20 people there, but that didn't take anything away from Dave Doughman's stage presence.

MUSE are awesome! Imagine Radiohead/Pumpkins with Tom Morello Riffing and more confidence in what they can do than the whole of the rest of the world. Check out this Website:

Citizen Erased is a personal favourite but there's something for everyone who loves the pumpkin style of music. They were influenced by Siamese Dream in a big way.
