DPA 4060's: These mics were purchased used about 8 months ago. They were bought from a theater company and came in perfect condition. They are matched to within 1db and are black in color. The only qualm I have with these microphones is they came with short leads. The leads coming from the microphones (which I cannot replace) are only about 15 inches long. What I had to do was splice them with longer cables so there is a section on the cable with epoxy and shrink tubing. They work perfectly and this is nothing more than a cosmetic defect and/or annoyance.

I've used these mics to record several concerts including the Zwan 4.7, 4.8, 4.12, 4.13, and 4,14 concerts (thanks to fares for getting the last three). I think any one of these shows will attest to the quality of these mics and their performance. At 134 max SPL they'll record just about any loud concert with the exception of the outrageous. We tried to use them on the stacks at Tool which is mind-blowing loud (probably around 140db) and they finally showed their limitations. However, as long as you do not exceed your max SPL, the 4060's are an advantage over the 61's. They have less self-noise and can drive a line input better during quiet situations (i.e. acoustic).

Along with these mics, you get two (2) fixed battery boxes that are compatible with these mics. Please note, these mics are not wired with a mini xlr jack like the Core Sound version. They use the larger xlr connector I use on all my mics. I can wire them up with a mini xlr, but not for my asking price. One battery box is a flat response (i.e. no bass filter) for all inputs. The other box is an 85hz low cut filter for a Sony line input. This filter is a sweet combination and what I used for the zwan recordings.

Finally, I will warranty these microphones through Dynamic Audio for a period of 1-year parts and labor (all dynamic audio policies apply).

DPA's are $500 + shipping. The same mics would be $1000 new from CoreSound.

Will entertain offers. Please email me at pzane@hotmail.com with questions or offers. I’m putting this stuff up for sale here first before I take it elsewhere and eventually * shivers,* ebay if I have to.

Unfortunately I do not have access to a digital camera or I would provide pictures. If absolutely necessary I will try and get some pictures, otherwise I assure you that these are as I describe them to be.

Is this the pair of mics you won on ebay that you showed me that time?

Yes, except I got screwed and that person only sold me one mic. I had to buy the other one from him off line.

Should this deck eventually need new heads, the cost of doing so through Sony Flat Rate repair is ~$270. Sony flat rate does good work and they will fix anything and everything that is wrong with the deck for the $270 amount. This cost is actually less than the price of new heads and labor so Sony is loosing money-doing repairs. Sony flat rate will service all decks less than 7 years old from what I understand.

I got lucky and they came that way. If you were to buy say, 20 capsules from a distributor, most of them would be very close matches. However, you might get one or two that could be as far as 5-6db off.

I tested mine when I got them and was pretty happy when they matched so close.
