the other day i was trying to remember what show had the acoustic version of Heavy Metal Machine - but i didn't have access to the spfc or a computer.
i got tired of going through every show from 2000 that i had trying to find it.
so i had an idea.
I want to make a template that would go in a 3 ring binder, a book that i would have with my cds with setlists and show information.
here's what i thought of:
the top of the page would have the band, date, and venue at the top - followed by a number that would correspond with the show on cd. (like the 88 metro show would have a number on the cd, then you just need to flip to page one for the info)
then source info and rating (this would have to be something that can be easily changed)
then setlist, and a notes section - this would be for such things as stage banter or 'best cherub rawk evar' to easily indentify the show.
any suggestions / ideas?
if people like this, what be the way to get it out to everyone?

Sounds like a good idea, however it may take some time to put together...

you are so lucky that i don't speak italian.
otherwise, i would start an italian flame war the likes of which netphoria has never seen . . . :p
I am going to try and get some sample pages made up this week, and will upload them somewhere to give everyone an idea. the hardest part about this will be the notes section - should i leave it blank for everyone to fill in, or start listening to shows and writing down banter / etc?

My idea for the trading community: give everything to me. I promise I'll see to it that it's distributed fairly to everybody.

When filling out the notes portion, I'd say only fill out important notes that are found in every copy of that particular show, if you get what I'm saying. Example: if every circulating copy of some show featured a guest appearance by some random musician, make a small note of that. Then, leave a few blank lines so everyone else could make their own personal little notes.
The best way to do this, I think, would be to make a standardized Excel template and have several people collaborate to spread the workload around.

I guess the best way to keep everything easily available to the community would be to host it on a website, maybe compressed in zip files organized by year or by tour or something. I also suggest keeping this a work that's always in progress, and not trying to make it one, single "finalized" copy. This would leave room to make updates with new shows obviously, and also make fixing mistakes easier.
I think its a pretty cool idea and I'd definitely be able to put it to good use for my own little collection. I was thinking about doing something similar for myself a while back but I don't have the time these days for all that effort.

I started something like this a while ago, though its not exactly what you're describing. I haven't updated it in probably a year or or more, but check it out if you're interested in using it as a jumping-off point:

Rhinoceros is a fast, jazzed up version that has, according to known and available recordings, been played only once. Beats the hell out of the studio version or any version for that matter
Near perfect version of Rocket. Tristessa moves like lightening.
stuff like this makes me go back to my collection, and go through all these concerts
