its not what i expected.. I thought it would be less....upbeat...but I need a few more listens to judge it...However, my initial reaction is that it is not a 'great' song, mediocre to good at best.

I hate to compare it to the past, but as far as singles go...... listen to thirty three then tell me which song gives you chills down your spine. I just don't get the same emotional feedback from Walking Shade.

I love it. I think it's got a very nice melody, and I bet that there's a lot of neat little instrumental bits hidden beneath all that radio fuzz; for example, the just-audible Cure-ish "plinking" and some nice warm harmonies in the chorus.

Just listened to it.

I must be in the minority here... I actually like it. It's not perfect, and there are things I think I'd like to be different about it, such as the opening vocals not being so boring-sounding. But yeah, this is definitely another taste of something that really doesn't sound anything like anything he's done before.

Here's my take. This album doesn't seem like it's supposed to be taken as seriously as Pumpkins records. It's supposed to be a fresh sound for his audience to enjoy. You're supposed to enjoy it. If you can only enjoy music when it's as heavy and deep as Adore, or Mellon Collie, then this record probably isn't for you.

...and I think most people who are Pumpkins/Billy fans can't except that. I think it's hard for Billy fans to understand a world where Billy makes music that doesn't reflect their taste. So haters of this song seem to me to be people who are disappointed that he didn't "snap out of it" and make another Siamese Dream, or Adore. I think they see his Pumpkins work as his best, and it probably was. I think it was. So if you can't enjoy anything of his that's outside of the heavy-bubble, don't buy this record. But I also think this record could be tight to have on in the car while driving... to not have it carry such a heavy persona whenever I listen to it, even if it's not his best work.

In the 80's, there wasn't a whole lot of music that the audience was supposed to take in, and absorb, and pick apart in the darkness of their bedroom, and cry to, and relate to, and be inspired by, etc. So listen to TFE as an album that's just about a tight 45 minutes of music that entertains you. It works better that way.

I can't understand why so many people want to put the cart before the horse here. I would assume that what brought us this far was an appreciation of SP's music, first and foremost. So why is it repeatedly made out to be a travesty when anyone suggests that maybe this recent music ain't so hot? Somehow, this attitude means we're "stuck in the past" and "need to learn how to appreciate new music." I listen to new music from almost every single kind of genre all the time - this is not about being closeminded towards exploring new directions in music. It is however about realizing that I didn't start listening to the pumpkins back in the day because of someone named Billy Corgan; I listened to them because the music they made was the shit and it just so happend that Billy was the one behind it all. If for whatever reason, his music is no longer as wonderful as it once was, then there shouldn't be a problem in saying so.
What's going on here is plain ol celebrity worship. I say love Billy all you want, but the music should be allowed to speak for itself. I'll only force myself to listen to something so long before I decide I just don't like it - and I'm not going to make exceptions just cuz it's you know who. (and as if you couldn't tell by now i'm not a fan of waking shade)

This is why I wanted this album to leak instead of a song at the time like it's happening right now... Also, you people should calm down, wait for a better version of the song (with no fuckin DJs or bad quality sound) and also I think these songs will be valued within the context of the album.

My opinion for now is that I like it, it's very catchy and I really think this album will be amazing from what I heard in these songs that leaked.

yes the album should be leaked completed.......A100 was a fukin good tune....but this walking shade is a fukin shame . sorry guys, its nothing... it repetitive and its baddly repetitive.....and im trying to think why corgan´s lyrics nowadays goes always around love and love and love...my god he wants to change, but the love love love love keeps repeting....like "i just want u so...." like 20 times in 2 minutes.....really cant understand!!!! On a last apreciation it looks like a karaoke thing of a asong by "the killers" (i like them)......for me, the worst corgan (sp+zwan) song ever......and by the way ...A100 fukin rules!!!!!!!!!

I don't get it. You say you don't like the song because it is repetitive and yet you say Zwan songs are better. The songs on MSOTS were very repetitive and you find this song worse?

Worst song ever? Geez. It's ok if you do't like the song, it's your opinion and all that, but saying it's the worst seong Corgan ever wrote? Sorry but that's bullshit.

2nd - i must say that for me any zwan song is better then walking shame...(even settle down that inded is repetitive but hey it has something that this just dont have)

3rd - its also true that we (i) should wait to put the song in the middle of the album, and mostly, should hear it with a good source before say anything about it.....but 4th

4th - its just a surprising deception, cause i was really digging the A100 sound (like some sort of dark adore goth beat), and this breaks it alll

1) That is your opinion. I enjoy most of his songs and I like Muse. But his last album is kind of the same thing it used to be. Sure there are some changes, but the song structures and the tricks he uses are all very common in his work. Muse isn't an example of extreme creativity and imaginitive music as much as you like them.

2) Well that's also your opinion and you're entitled to have it. I just think that you can't say that the song sucks because it's repetitive and then say Zwan was better. That's an inconsistent statement :p

3) Yeah.

4) I think I also like A100 more than this one but as I said I really want to hear all the songs and listen to the album as a whole piece.

5) Who cares about what people that listen to radio think?

I think it is great, this song is a breath of fresh air. I can exhale now, this album will be amazing! These new songs will fit in well with the rest of corgan's masterpeices! Everyone is already trying to compare these songs to songs they have been listen to for 10 years...that's really not fair. These new songs will be the frame work for new memories. Let go of the old songs, billy did.

put on.. let me think.. plug in baby..

Now, right before the chorus, you know that part where it's not even a drumroll, it's like every other hit of a drumroll?

I can't think of a term to describe it, but it starts off quietly and gets louder and louder till they hit into the chorus?

Now seriously, they do that shit ALL the fucking time. I've heard it frequently in their songs. And I know a few people who love them, plus I've had Showbiz and have been forced to listen to origin of symmetry extensively.

Now I liked their first album, but now, I do find them repetitive and bland. All their songs are just mixed up in my head now because they're so similar.

Is it Bliss that just sounds like a cheap version of Space Dementia?

I've pointed this out multiple times, because when I realised it it bugged the shit out of me, but go back and listen to Muse, and listen to Matt literally gasping in air before every fucking line he sings, it's so irritating.

I'm not in any way trying to defend walking shade, I've not listened to it or A100, I just feel that billy is one of the few songwriters I know of who has constantly evolved and never stayed stagnant with their sound, and it bugged me that you brought up muse, because I think they are definitely guilty of this.

Yeah, but I was focusing on what Bolly might have wanted from MSotS, and not what he actually got.

WS was a bit of a letdown because A100 was sounding so nice, this dark, slow music. But still better than a Djali acoustic thing.

I quite like it. I'll reserve my final judgement until I hear a better quality version, but I think I like it more than A100. It has a cool melody.

Again, not the greatest thing Billy's ever done. I'm still hoping there will be some songs on the album that really hit me hard. Because so far i've LIKED both the songs, but neither have fully restored my faith in Billy's abilities.

But it's too early to tell, really.

I feel bad for Billy. He just gets done making his highly anticipated cd and two songs get leaked and his supposed fans say they suck. That is not such great support. You have to give it a chance. I am sure that most didn't like Adore when it 1st came out. After listening to it for a long time, then you start to like it. This could be the same here. This song reminds me sort of LMGTWTY from Machina 2 and Real Love. I love hearing new fresh music from him. I already know he is one of the top musician/songwriters out of the last 10-15 years.

This song sounds new wave to me. I feel he is going after an older target audience with this album. I like it a lot! It's catchy!

Perfectly said. I have been trying to say that for a long time and no one listens to me. Billy is not going to make any more Siamese Dream cds so don't wait for it. If you don't like his new music, then get off the bandwagon. Just please don't post all negative comments because there a lot of people who like his new music and can't wait for the album. For some strange reason, it is cool to hate on Billy and everything he does. This man is a musical genius and he deserves respect. I don't know many other artists/bands that keep changing their music each cd and still continue to make hits. it's amazing how he does it! He is so amazing and he doesn't even get the credit he deserves.

Justin, you don't want to be on a concert when no one else is there :)

I like the song. The music touches me. And am I the only one who finds it also quite a bit melancholic? There's just something in his singing that just wasn't there with Zwan, but with the Pumpkins. And more. I have to say I have never been so surprised by his singing since Tales of a Scorched Earth.

I also dig the production so much. TheFutureEmbrace is an excellent title for this album. It sounds futuristic in a retro sense, very cool. It also sounds like the album is going to be a lot like Adore, but who knows?

I agree when people say that Billy's melody writing has gotten weaker, though. Except for the "on the 9th day" line I have the feeling that I have listened to these melodies on other albums. Though never in this context. The album is going to be different. I'm very excited :)

machina is still my favorite piece of billy's catalog... always will be i think.

What are you favorite songs on that cd? I really like it too. My fav's are: SIYL, I of the Mourning, This Time, With Every light and wound. I think I am one of the only pumpkins songs that like Raindrops and Sunshowers (or whatever it is).

It's hard for me to pick my favorite album. I have been battling this question for a long time. Of course Mellon Collie and Siamese are great, but I really love Adore. I really adore that album. I also really like Machina 2. Some of my favorites on that one are: Slow Dawn, LMGTWTY, Vanity, Home, Saturnine (greatest hits versionj, etc.
