good luck with that. you'll need it.

it drove me apart from the only truly meaningful relationship i've had.

we made it to about 3 years, 2 of which were long-distance.

It can totally be done. I strongly suggest investing in a bunch of phone cards/free longdistance cell phone thing. We talk every night (he's not out of state any more, although he was out of state (La) when he first went off to college while I was still in high school) and it's just like he's still here, it makes a big difference. I guess we've been through the off and on long distance thing for nearly 5 years - 2 years he was here during high school. Thank god that will be over with in August.

thanks for the advice. we haven't really figured it out yet, but I think we've pretty much agreed that when we're apart, we'll sort of be broken up. I mean, we'll be free to test the waters if we want. I know that we won't be hooking up with random people or anything, just because our personalities aren't like that. but during the summer or vacations or whatever we'll be sort of together again. I don't really know how that's going to work. we'll see.

just chatting or using audio over msn?

we did the whole audio/webcam thing.

looking back it was kind of lame, but at the time it worked.

oh and Nate: i still see my ex whenever i'm in town, and visit her occassionally. we practically have an open relationship. it's ok, except that it's difficult to juggle your emotional connection with detachment for the sake of avoiding jealousy.
