View Full Version : escapism
Deleted_User 03-19-2005, 12:04 PM you know how when you listen a certain song by a certain band, it reminds you of a certain mment, or a certain period in your life and you get all nostalgic about it?
the smashing pumpkins have very seldom done that to me. their music always made me nostalgic about things i never lived through or experienced, places i'd never been to. this is going to sounds really lame, but its almost as though the music created this little universe for itself and i was nostalgic of things that happened in that universe.
Karl Connor 03-19-2005, 12:21 PM i was listening to Adore today. felt like tenth grade again.
GlasgowKiss 03-19-2005, 12:41 PM I listened to Zero while playing a WW2 squad based combat game.
It made me nostalgic about being a squad leader in WW2 which i have never lived through or experienced.

I think you mean "oh gawth", which is what I thought I was back when I chose that stupid nickname.
The Omega Concern 03-21-2005, 12:23 PM holy freakshow Batman, but I musta cloned or something...and speak that Fyshe'ese...and I suppose had I earned a B.A. in English from UCLA I'd write that way too...not. :)
but yeah, I tend to agree with the Goldman. Sure, now and again Pumpkin songs make me think of a time period in this reality, but moreover the sound and songs always seemed to be reaching for or pulling from another reality.
I dont think the type of fan obsession SP still has to a certain degree is based in song nostalgia, but if it is...
:p
