people, don't bid. I saw the same thing being sold at amoeba records on sunset... the print quality on the jewel cases is fucking terrible. It's such a fake it's not even funny.

Plus, why the fuck would Virgin print lo-fi pictures on an in-house CD set? They'd just print on stock paper, with regular black text like with everything else (i.e. all the other promos).

Good point, I didn't think of that. I've seen crappy CDRs of it go for this price before, what can ya do. It pisses me off but if Virgin or ebay isn't willing to take responsibility then there's nothing we can do about it, unless we drive the auctions up to $1000. Which I would do if I had an old account. :D

I bought an I mother earth promo (small canadian band) from this guy a while ago.... he sent me my stuff but it was 5 monthes late and one cd didn't work. don't bother with this guy ....

Heh, I was thinking exactly the same thing when I read how much it went for. It would help the girl recoup her money, plus she would still get to keep the originals, which would remain rare and special at least to a degree.

Assuming I'm not being trolled I'll give my opinion.

If you sell CDRs of this CD one could accuse you of making money from the band, blah blah blah. So you should not make a profit. Say for example you sold the 4 cd set on 4cdrs for $20. If you sold it to the first 25 people that emailed you and them only, you would get your $500 back, but would make no profit. You will be laughing because it will have cost you nothing except the time and effort of burning 100 cds and sending them out (alright that is quite a bit of effort), yet you still get to keep the digital machina II promo original a rare item indeed.

I think people will be thrilled to buy this from you, I would, because it guarantees those who buy it a CDR-0 of the digital machina II. The best copy of this music we are ever likely to get.

Furthermore as the 25 people who get this will trade it out, you will help the wider pumpkins community get a superior quality machina II.

Now, what of the possibility that millions of copies of this end up on ebay. It really doesn't matter because there are enough crappy mp3 sourced machina II's on ebay as it is. If anything you might help to improve the quality of the crap on ebay, but are unlikely to change its quantity much.

I don't know what a fair price is, personally I would like to see it released as 4 separate CDRs, and I would pay extra for this privilege. I think you should aim to recoup your expense, but make no profit.

If you do sell copies, I hope I make your list.

i paid alot of money to get the first known of FAEOMM official virgin promo,"close to what the ebay winner paid". i had many offers, from people wanting to buy a CDR,or very nice trades for official items,i turned everyone down because i did not want to make one cent off a CDr, also because i was asked by a "special" someone to not trade it out, who i have lost contact with in the recent months???

now the time has come,to share it. im not a big trader,an i dont have a cable modem, how would i go about sharing this 4-CD set? no one pays me a cent, i just want someone that is a leet trader, to help me get it out,"or a couple good traders" to make sure that if i give it to one person,and they want to hoard it,the music will still go out. i dont want to screw the sound quality up. does something need to be done with the CDR i make,before it goes out? i dont know best ways to record im not a trader. who could i send a copy to, that would make sure it got traded out with the best sound?

Well recouping the money you spent wouldn't be viewed as selling (at least not by most people). That has happened many times with expensive ebay purchases.. MCIS Demos II and the new Metro tapes come to mind. I think it would be perfectly reasonable. You need to gather all the cash before sending any discs out though, so people don't start giving it away before you make your money back. I hope you go for it, I'd really like a copy! Enjoy those things though, you sure payed for em.

Hehehh. Well are you saying you would copy your discs and mail the copies to one person and have them distribute it? You could send like 5 copies to 5 people and have them do a SHN tree or something of that sort. If you don't want to screw anything up, I'm sure me or anyone else will help you get set up with EAC and CDRWin to make perfect images. This is very exciting!

EDIT: Screw CDRWin, they should be sent out as SHN images on cdr. Would fit on 2 discs if not one http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/biggrin.gif

The more I think about it, the less interested I am in selling CDR copies. It's not the right thing to do; especially if 'aspecialkid' is going to leak a copy. If his plans don't work out, then maybe I'll do it later on.

yeah, it would be much better to spread shns than make copies. that way everyone would end up with as low-gen a copy as possible. i'm sure someone here could float you the proper configurations for EAC if you're not already familiar with that program.

As for Machina 2, I would be glad to copy this and help get it out, I'm reasonably close to Grand Rapids so it would probably take a week or less to get these by mail.
