Yesterday when i was on internet explorer i got a pop up with the title... banner something and when i xed out of one a lot more came up and would not stop so i disconnected to find that they had installed all sorts of "anti spyware anti virus" software on my computer... i removed all of it only to find that the moment i connect to the internet again without even opening my browser the same pop ups and installations begin again

any ideas?

shut down suspicious processes (ctrl-alt-del -> task manager)
download firefox (http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US)
launch it, log on to lavasoft.de and download ad-aware, and also download spybot from download.com
of course, if you already have those programs just run them

Download the two programs killer tomato said, then reboot into safe mode and run them from there.

you have norton anti virus?

you have to remove all the stuff and then delete everything from the interface. the problem is i have no idea what exactly you have to delete from there. if you have norton antivirus, it will tell you what to do.
