GlasgowKiss 03-06-2005, 02:15 PM Billy Jimmy Melissa James D'arcy If only talent were boobs. Then D'arcy would be the winner. chris_bakewell 03-06-2005, 02:20 PM I'm going to be honest, even though James is my favourite..... 1 - Billy 2 - James 3 - Jimmy 4 - D'arcy Cherub Angel 03-06-2005, 03:05 PM Jimmy Billy James D'arcy Billy has even said that Jimmy is the most talented musician in the band. I think Billy wipes them all with songwriting though. sweter33 03-06-2005, 03:11 PM noone posted 1. b0lly 2. jimmy 3. d'arcy/melissa 5. james  Dead 03-06-2005, 03:15 PM If anyone doesn't put Billy first they are morons, the songwriting, the guitar skills, the arrangements & production, unbelievable. chris_bakewell 03-06-2005, 03:22 PM Originally posted by sweter33 noone posted 1. b0lly 2. jimmy 3. d'arcy/melissa 5. james  James last??????? sweter33 03-06-2005, 03:28 PM Originally posted by chris_bakewell James last??????? yup. my reasoning: b0lly-out of question. i like jimmy's and melissa's solo albums more than james's. d'arcy was just cool. besides, i've never took a fancy to the guy... so... If you're judging them by playing talent. Cherub Angel 03-06-2005, 07:09 PM there's a difference between overall talent and talent as musicians (solely, how well they can play) for overall talent, it's Billy. No question. He can write, produce, play, manage, etc. the next is definitely Jimmy. Not only a great drummer, but his solo album is better than James's album. Hands down. then there's James. Good guitarist, but the thing about James is that aside from playing second banana he hasn't done too much. There's a difference in being in the shadow of someone and being with them. Jimmy wasn't really in the shadow of Billy when they played together, they kept in time with each other. He put out one solo album and let it go. Not to mention, the only song of his that I remotely dug was "Go." Melissa. Decent bass player and I think even her solo album was better than James's solo album in some ways, but on level of musical talent James's skill exceeds her's. D'arcy. D'arcy is cool, and for a long time she was one of the cooler members of the band. She had personality that would rival billy's..........but as a bass player? Only ok.....dare I say marginal. I hope she comes back one day though. spguitar 03-06-2005, 07:10 PM 1. Jimmy - I haven't heard anyone that plays remotely like him. Notice the high hat is almost always going with his left foot. Jazz mixed into rock = perfection. 2. Billy - Very good guitarist but not the best in the world. Writing-wise he knows his stuff of course. His solos were always sloppy and i picked that up from him in a big way. Very frantic and out of whack but still worked great. 3. James - Not that great of a guitarist. I've seen him to a couple solos with basic scales. Nothing complicated at all. He is great with APC live. Does what he needs to do and nothing more. Good with melody. 4. Melissa - She's a decent bassist. Her bass tone is a lot thinner than D'arcy's. Sounds good in person but not recorded. Strange. Her album is so so. 5. D'arcy - So so bassist. Did what she needed to do. I'm sure she was better at her other instrument. RopeyLopey 03-06-2005, 07:26 PM Originally posted by spguitar I'm sure she was better at her other instrument. you mean violin, right? spguitar 03-06-2005, 07:28 PM Originally posted by RopeyLopey you mean violin, right? The guy's a friggin monster. Nova 03-12-2005, 07:07 PM I don't know why everyone knocks Corgan for being such a bad soloist. Here's a live Starla solo: http://s31.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=37FYH20BW9U8D14GDRF1MRDVKZ I posted it at another forum and people ripped on it to no end. Who cares if it's "sloppy" or not "traditional" enough? It fucking rocks. People said it sucks, but I don't think so. ladollyvita 03-12-2005, 07:35 PM 1 - Billy 2 - Jimmy 3 - James 4 - Melissa 5 - D'arcy I don't get how people rank Jimmy above Billy.
