Any suggestions? I have been listening to a lot of Guitar Wolf and Michelle Gun Elephant lately but can't seem to find a lot of newer or older stuff that is worth checking out coming out of Japan.

emotion eric sent me a mic cd once and it had a japanese pop rock song on it. it was called "kan guo lai" or something by some guy named richie ren.

the song kicks ass, though.

Yes! But they don't really rock all that much.

Melt-Banana for the hard stuff. 5.6.7.8's rock. Mummy The Peepshow is also good.

I don't think any of that counted as a coherent sentence.

Has anyone heard the new Thee Michelle Gun Elephant album? I haven't ordered it quite yet and was wondering if it was anywhere near the greatness of Gear Blues...

I heard the latest MGE CD around the time it came out (Late October maybe) and I thought it was every bit as good as Gear Blues. I haven't heard it since though and I have been playing Gear Blues to death lately.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I haven't heard a lot of those artists.

sometimes jazzy, sometimes rock, always enthralling.

Ryuichi Sakamoto/Yellow Magic Orchestra are great, too.

I just got one of their albums, Super are, from a friend. Excellent, but weird stuff.
