i'm curious to know if anyone has archived information about how certain recordings were aquired.
for instance, from what i remember about the machina acoustic demos it was given to a hockey player by billy and eventually aquired and distributed by offtopicman.
now, i know this isn't 100% true. i'm pretty sure i remember it was asselin who really shared it. but the story is there.
what about the marked tapes? i know 2 of them were bought off of ebay by some girl who eventually sold them back to billy. some were bought off of ron roesing.
i wonder if there are any concise websites or faqs describing the origins of these kinds of things.
like sequence 4... where did that come from? MCIS acoustic demos?
i know eric agnew was given the FAEOMM and the gravity demos tapes, but what really happened? are there any scans of these tapes?
i just think it would be cool if there was a definitive source of this info. including the true origin as well as how it was originally distributed. and scans too.
i know the mod smiley was part of the group who bought the adore demos off of ebay. who were they bought off of? how did they get them?
i was lucky enough to hold in my hand the PI+F tape and fruit bat salad v1 and v2. i know where these came from. i did the master transfer for PI+F and starseed did the editing.
i'd really like to see some sort of compiling of information. if this is a stupid idea, be a netphorian and flame me.
but seriously, i think that stuff is pretty cool. and spfc doesn't (work.) give enough information about the origins of some recordings. maybe it's to protect the anonymity of the source... in which case, i can totally respect that. but names aren't entirely necessary.
it's just a thought i had. while listening to the FAEOMM tape...
