I just finished this book, and I recommend it to anyone. It's very well written and Jim DeRogatis has this "no bullshit" style that's really entertaining. It's pretty much a collection of articles he's written over the years about the 90s "alternative music explosion", divided into chapters, with a few pages introducing the articles and the context in which they were written.
there are a few reviews on his site:

but I just wanted to say, if you get the chance to pick up this book, it's an awesome read!
