I use to have Windows ME. Everytime I burned a CD I had to shut down all my programs, includeing AIM. If I got an IM while burning, a pop or skip would end up on the CD. With wondows XP multiple users can log on to the same program, with out disrupting each other. My question Do I have to log off my brother from AIM(under his user settings) when I am burning a cd.
I hope this makes sense to somebody.

I think your only issue would be getting buffer underruns. I don't think AIM would take up enough resources to give you a buffer underrun, so that's probably not a problem. I guess it also depends on the program you burn with and what speed you burn at.
