I think it may be unmastered.

i dunno about this one, he went all singer-songwriter this time around and dropped the beats all together.

I sent him a track for potential collaboration, but he hasn't responded. I'm pretty sure it's just because the track kinda sucks though.

you should work on more music... that stuff was pretty good... you mentioned getting annoyed with fruity loops though...
what i've found to be a good method, is using fruity loops to make the initial simpler beat and then taking it into a multi-tracking program (I use Nuendo) and chopping it up and making it more complex there....
I wonder what guys like squarepusher and aphex use to program drums?

it's crazy that go plastic is the first album he used software to produce like wtf it's so like wtf masterful. my favourite album of all time.

do you actually mix and sample live with cubase? i used cubase but i couldn't figure out how to do more than play files and tweak a few effects. it's good for recording and tracking. which is lame. and now i'm using a sampler and ableton and i can make music live and it's turbo rad.

then there's dudes like venetian snares who are all like whoa. what the fuck does he use? is it they just really meticulously program everything, speed the BPM and play files live?

Snares DJs his stuff live. And meticulously places every drum hit. Which is what I do. I use Ableton Live for shows because I usually end up too drunk to do any proper on-the-fly composition.

PS. Did you actually say "turbo rad"?

Yeah. That way I can twist little bits. Laborious, but ultimately rewarding.

I've been doing that lately in Nuendo, it does give you a lot of editing power... the one thing I liked about fruity loops was the ease and quickness of popping in new hits while it was looping. i find FL to be a bit quicker with that... but FL's grid abilities blow...

nice beats... especially in the "darling, i'm on fire and it's your fault" song.

Yeah, FL is really quick to "do" beats with, but dang I love time-stretching

He uses mod tracker programs, actually. You can do a lot of similar shit with Little Sound DJ for the Gameboy. BUt I think Vsnares just uses Modplug or something similar.
