This is for a friend.. If he wanted to make a fixed bass roll off filter, what would be the easiest way to do it. Anyone have any plans/instructions? Thanks

They say that that circuit will roll-off at liki 120hz (I can't remember the exact value) but it's wrong. It doesn't roll-off at all. You'll have to mathematically figure out what components to use to get the right roll-off value. pzane ------------------ The Smashing Pumpkins Trading FAQ http://www.spfc.org/tradingfaq.txt Dynamic Audio Microphones Miniature Stealth Microphones for Concert Recording http://dynamicaudio.cjb.net Fish 08-28-2002, 12:23 PM Could you give more of a hint? I don't really understand stuff and don't want to pass incomplete info onto him. Chow 08-28-2002, 12:59 PM The Magic formula is: f=1/(2*pi*RC) f = frequency desired (in Hz) pi = 3.1415927...... R = Input impedence of your recorder (in Ohms) C = Capacitor value (in Farads) Here's an online calculator as well, pretty nifty! http://64.119.173.198/burak/live/battbox.html [This message has been edited by Chow (edited 08-28-2002).] garysbootlegs 08-29-2002, 07:04 AM Originally posted by Day dreaming Of Darcy: You should note... the plans listed on that website aren't correct. None of my recordings suffer from too much bass so even if there isnt any roll off the mics do a good enough job as they are. ------------------ Thanks Gary http://garysbootlegs.cjb.net garyfaulder@hotmail.com Day dreaming Of Darcy 08-30-2002, 01:49 PM Originally posted by garysbootlegs: Well when i built mine i got told that if i used the orange 2.2 capacitors there would be roll off only if i used the line in on the recorder and used the mic diyers mics as well. You were horribly miss informed my friend. 2.2 is no roll-off for any input. pzane ------------------ The Smashing Pumpkins Trading FAQ http://www.spfc.org/tradingfaq.txt Dynamic Audio Microphones Miniature Stealth Microphones for Concert Recording http://dynamicaudio.cjb.net garysbootlegs 08-31-2002, 06:48 AM Originally posted by Day dreaming Of Darcy: You were horribly miss informed my friend. 2.2 is no roll-off for any input. pzane So all the battery module is doing is powering the mics so that the line in input can be used? So in that case i could just use the mic in on the low sensitivity setting and still get the same quality recording. But thats not the case, using the mic in sounds shit, it sounds overloaded. ------------------ Thanks Gary http://garysbootlegs.cjb.net garyfaulder@hotmail.com Day dreaming Of Darcy 09-01-2002, 04:10 PM That's because it is. The mic input overloads very easy. It was designed for simple things like speech recordings, not 130spl's of loud rock. Furthermore, just because the mic in says "plug-in-power" means very little. It supllies about 1.5v, far less than the 9volt battery. pzane |
