Alright, everyone should have sent out their discs by now- the 31st was the "deadline". Unless you arranged with your partner that it was OK to be late, you suck if you haven't mailed it.

Use this thread to post what you received, what you think about it, what your favorite/least favortie tracks are, etc. etc. etc.

I'm really curious to see what people came up with.

3. Frank Black and The Catholics - Bullet
4. Jack Irons - Hearing it Doubled
5. Ween - It's Gonna Be a Long Night
6. Tenacious D - Rock Your Socks
7. Robert Randolph and The Family Band - Calypso
8. The Black Heart Procession - Tropics of Love
9. Fleetwood Mac - Big Love (Live)

The following was submitted to yours truly by ZackZ:

1. Zwan- Lyric (only up until Billy starts singing- apparently he wanted a "WTF is this shit?!" moment. He got it.)
2. Genesis- The Waiting Room
3. Genesis- The Cinema Show
4. Genesis- The Carpet Crawlers
5. Yngwie Malmsteen- Evil Eye
6. Gentle Giant- A Cry For Everyone
7. Al Dimeola- Race With the Devil on a Spanish Highway
8. The Jelly Jam- War Is...
9. Genesis- Return of the Giant Hogweed
10. Gentle Giant- The Boys in the Band
11. Gentle Giant- Mr. Class and Quality
12. Return to Forever- Vulcan Worlds
13. Blind Guardian- Mirro Mirror

I requested (or suggested, at least) some early Genesis, so he came through there. I've listened to it a few times and it's pretty good. Don't like the Malmsteen, and one other I don't remember off-hand.

Of all the songs on your disc, Zack, I figured Drowning Dream would be the one you disliked. I seriously thought of taking it out on numerous occasions.

My apologies to everyone...

bittertrance sent his disc long ago and I recieved it too! But, shamefully, I haven't listened to it yet. As a matter of fact, I have embarrassingly misplaced the CD. Last I heard it was in a hamper of dirty clothes. I suppose it might have been washed with a load of dirty laundry, but judging from the huge pile of unwashed clothes, maybe not.

Things have a habbit of vanishing in my apartment... I'm missing like half of the Family Guy set! What's worse is my baby daughter thinks CDs are fun to throw around, so three spindels of CD-Rs (including random mixes of old Loudspeakers roughs and Gay Apparel multitracks and test mixes of new Curiously Strong Peppermints songs) have been shuffled into a pile numerous times. Could it be in there? Most of those CDs are all vaguely marked to make orginization an impossibility. I saw an oversized envolpe with my name on it in the corner the other day while looking for a long-lost tape of Aqua Teen Hunger Force that ended up being eaten in the VCR; maybe that was it? No, I think that was a B+P for my SMiLE that I never sent back. Hmmm. Maybe it's under the kitchen table...

Well, the CD looked cool when I first saw it months ago. I didn't recognize *any* of the artists on the mix, so either bittertrance tried to be as indie/elite as humanly possible, or I'm *really* out of touch with the underground scene. Fuck, I just heard The Killers for the first time the other day... I thought it was Franz Ferdinand, who I had just heard for the first time around Christmas.

I'm sorry bittertrance. :( I'll look for it and listen right away. I have the flu this week, so I have some extra time.

Ok, mine was also from AndySlash.... and I swear, mine is on the way! Things have been retarded.... it's burned and everything, just haven't been able to get to the post office yet.

This mix is AMAZING.... I love it... and the best part is I hadn't heard a single track before. Even the songs by people/bands that I knew of I hadn't heard these songs yet. Here it is:

1. DJ Shadow - Fixed Income
2. !!! - Pardon My Freedom
3. Ida - Turn Me On
4. Explosions in the Sky - A Poor Man's Memory
5. Zero 7 - Distractions
6. Dvendra Banhart - My Ships
7. Do Make Say Think - Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!
8. Particle - The Elevator
9. The Good Life - Album of the Year
10. Bedhead - Parade
11. Augie March - Brundisium
12. Orbital - Lost
13. Shalabi Effect - Imps
14. Piano Magic - Music Won't Save You From Anything But Silence
15. A Silver Mt. Zion - Sit in the Middle of Three Galloping Dogs

I think track 9 is my favourite... but the whole cd is great. I love listening to it while roaming downtown Toronto... I feel like I'm in a movie the whole time.

I took my second listen to disc one this morning, and these were my highlights so far, but it takes me a while to warm up to new music so a lot of those are from bands I had already heard (even if I hadn't heard all those songs). I had never heard Room 323 and I liked it a lot. Are they more of a local or national band? And I'd never gotten to hear WW, but I finally have, after years of stories. Thank you. I'll get back to you w/ more feedback soon.

PS- Your cd is coming soon. I work on it every night, but I am having problems with the completion of the project. Problem is I no longer use MP3s at home so I have to keep remembering songs and finding them and ripping them, and then Real Player keeps shuffling my playlists after I work for hours on the ordering. But I have learned these lessons. Fear not, it will be worth the wait.

That song is about the town where I went my university was at - Nacogdoches, Texas, the oldest town in the state.

The one you sent me is quite good. A few bands I've already heard, severeal that I haven't, I especially liked the Mercury Rev tune. You have 18 tracks listed but there are 19. What is the last song?

I'm really glad you like it! It makes me feel like it was worth the wait, haha ;)

I also just found out that Long Distance Run Around by RHP is a cover of a Yes song.

Red Trakpants and Lisp are both local bands from my town, and the Riderless are a semi-local band (about an hour away).

Oh, and the Simples are from B.C. I think... I picked the cd up for a buck at Cash Converters like, probably 6 or 7 years ago... didn't like it... listened to it a couple years later and loved it. I've never been able to find anything about them anywhere.

It's the label they're involved with.

I say involved with because they do label stuff like produce records or whatever, but are more active on a community level... it's more like an organization... I don't know. Whatever.

Indeed, it is.

I'm thinking of doing another sooner rather than later. I'm not sure what the success rate was on this one... I seem to remember drawing more names than posted, so... But most people who *did* complete their trades seemed to get something out of it, so that's good enough for me.

Indeed, it is.

I'm thinking of doing another sooner rather than later. I'm not sure what the success rate was on this one... I seem to remember drawing more names than posted, so... But most people who *did* complete their trades seemed to get something out of it, so that's good enough for me.

I think it was a great idea. The only reason I didn't sign up though was because I thought that I'd draw someone whose tastes I wouldn't know...etc. but i'll definitely sign up for the next one.
