Welcome to the land of the free. real politik 12-15-2004, 02:32 PM Originally posted by spa ced I'm surprised to learn Fox gives more to Dems. And Bravo gave more to Reps. Debaser 12-15-2004, 02:41 PM i'm really disappointed with Target. not surprised by walmart tho. gurr8 12-15-2004, 03:21 PM Originally posted by Debaser i guess i should trade in my nissan for a toyota. Interestingly, Toyota has both the largest and smallest donation to the democrats. I think the big shocker from this list is that large corporations are giving anything to the Democrats. D. 12-15-2004, 03:21 PM my beloved skoal. how could you? oh, how i hate you...yet long for you. jczeroman 12-15-2004, 04:14 PM Originally posted by gurr8 I think the big shocker from this list is that large corporations are giving anything to the Democrats. Debaser 12-15-2004, 04:16 PM Originally posted by gurr8 I think the big shocker from this list is that large corporations are giving anything to the Democrats. well i guess it turns out some successful big businesses have souls afterall. :) spa ced 12-15-2004, 09:58 PM I should shop more at Costco. 98% to Dems and 2% to Repubs=very cool. Oh and I stopped smoking Salem and smoking in general. Now that I realize some of that money was going to help fund Republicans I'm even more glad I stopped smoking. Very low turnover, high pay, high benefits. Costco vs Walmart (http://www.slate.com/id/2104988) phaedrus 12-15-2004, 11:34 PM where's Honda? i'd expect them to support the dems along with toyota. shell's a shocker though. They rock my socks. machinaddict 12-16-2004, 01:07 AM you guys do realize that costco is a wholesaler and walmart is a retailer right? they are hardly comparible. gurr8 12-16-2004, 01:25 AM Originally posted by machinaddict you guys do realize that costco is a wholesaler and walmart is a retailer right? they are hardly comparible. Would you outline the difference in how they should treat their employees? Oh, and uh, don't forget that the wholesaler Sam's Club would fall under the Walmart umbrella. machinaddict 12-16-2004, 01:44 AM Originally posted by gurr8 Would you outline the difference in how they should treat their employees? Oh, and uh, don't forget that the wholesaler Sam's Club would fall under the Walmart umbrella. it doesn't matter how either company treats their employees. Saying that you are happy that you shop at costco and not walmart doesn't compare because they aren't in direct competition. Saying that you are happy that you shop at costco and not walmart doesn't compare because they aren't in direct competition. nobody is really comparing walmart vs. costco in terms of shopping. We're just comparing both companies philosophies on how to treat their employees. One company treats them as expendable and the other treats them the opposite. Whether or not they are in direct competition in the marketplace is irrelevent on this issue. just to make you happy, we could have said costco vs. sams club, but then quite a few number of people may go 'what the hell is sams club?'. carter 01-03-2005, 06:18 PM Maybe Costco hires better employees? I made less than $7 /hr with no benefits working in college. I make considerably more now; however, my current employer is no less greedy than my college employer. |
