well that didnt work...and where was your show...mine was in a rather big outside amphitheatre where they have a 98dB rule...so it was rather quiet there as well.

Sound comes from the stack. Unless you can scientifically explain to me why it's better to be away from the sound i'm still going to say, "nice recording, would have sounded even better if you were closer"

ohhh...and don't try to pull that "stereo" crap on me, cos we both know it's not true.

Well at this particular venue...getting on the stacks is impossible...unless you want to totally stand out of the crowd...the sides face directly in...like a basket ball court...say the hoop is the stage, and the way the stands on the sides face directly in...thats how it is here. Vocals can lack on center tapes, but this one...they don't. Center tapes give you a better feeling of being at the show. While stack tapes are nice and direct...sometimes I personally don't like that, and I know others that don't as well. In my personal opinion, I feel center tapes represent the concert better, gives a better feeling to the sound, etc. And lately...I have had better quality tapes from the center than the stacks. I only like stacks in arenas really. Small clubs don't make much of a difference. I just posted this clip, because I shit myself when I got home...I mean shit...a center tape from over 100 ft back that sounds like this...wow. Once again why cards rule.

Also...if anyone is looking to start taping...and wanting to get some cheap mics...the AT831 cards are amazing for how cheap they are. They are like 100 bucks, and I have heard some great tapes with them. My buddy taped a rap show with it...in which he said the bass was so loud is was making him sick, and the bass in his tape is perfect. One of the nicest tapes I have heard in a while...and yeah...its a center tape too http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/biggrin.gif

Hell yeah. I use a pair of km84's, and km184's and they are practically identical in every aspect. The 184's were purchased because they were cheaper and another pair was needed, but Neuman did a terrific job of recreating them. Same deal with the TLM-103 and a U-87 (well, on the cardiod selection at least.)
