Man I didn't know Cal would be considered the second best college in the world  Unless that isn't Cal then I feel stupid. Good to see 4 UCs in the top 30.

thats the dumbest fucking rank system ever.

harvard above mit? who are we kidding here...

and in what way is harvard 2x as good as yale and like 7x as good as northwestern?

i dont know anything about tokyo university but from what i do know about japan and their education system, its probably on the level with caltech

rankings like these aren't very useful usually. i can't understand why the fuck they put the uni i left after one year cause it sucked so much at number 58 - the one you mentioned seems to be extremely highly regarded everywhere though: in the chinese ranking (http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/ranking.htm) it comes in at number 4.

if they called the schools by their proper names it would be a little more impressive. i mean, chicago university? what? speak english. why would you poll that much and then get the names wrong? it's okay, but lack of attention to detail pisses me off.

Well, the students and faculty here are all deeply in love with this school, so I guess it's not that farfetched.

for you people in the uk: this rating (http://education.guardian.co.uk/universityguide2003/0,13330,956807,00.html) is much more useful than the one in this thread, since it has tables for each subject.

I think they got people to score their universities based on how well they compare with all the other universities they'd studied at!

i find out if i got into ucla and ucsb on the 15th and uc berkeley on the 31st. so far i've gotten into uci and uc santa cruz, and the former seems like it should be somewhere on the list, given how good it is on a national scale.
