Hi,
Due to a screw-up on my part (forgetting to remove some MP3s I didn't realize I was sharing) I have been banned from the hub. I've learned my lesson, and would like to know, can someone un-ban me? My screen name is the same for both DC++ and this board.

I don't get it. How did you miss the rules that stated no mp3s. Its written like 10 times. :confused:

i being a op of the hub, and i have to keep the decision as it is. We state on the hub numerous times no mp3's allowed, and the last rule says no exception, if your caught with mp3's, your permantly banned. It is your responsibility whenever you enter the hub to make sure you do not have mp3's in your share. Accident or not, your request to be allowed back in is denied.

I for one think they should allow mp3s. Theres lots of people on dial up that... "Look, I promise I wont burn them and trade them...".... etc.

Ok, go ahead and accuse of me of being a nazi, and by saying that people with dial up should be allowed to download mp3's, well if you go on the hub, there are only 2 people out of the avergage 40 with a dial-up connection. And i think it is pointless to allow mp3's just to accomodate them, becauase you see, neither of them have ever complained about it. This guy had a fast connection, he didn't pay attention. Thus he is banned.

Nobody is stopping you setting up an mp3-only hub. I think it's a good idea to keep the lossless and the lossy files completely separate.

probably brandon, you were OP of the old hub, and i remember that. The term nazi is just something that comes with being an OP. I don't even enforce that many things on the hub itself, cid usually does. I just happen to be the first OP to notice this thread and stepped in to say something.

It's just a fact that jealous losers hate ops in any situation because they are paid more and are better looking.

I swore I wasn't going to post here on anything hub related but here we go.

Here are the rules of the hub:

1) READ THE FUCKING RULES. BEING IGNORANT OF THE HUB RULES IS NOT AN EXCUSE WHEN YOU GET YOUR ASS KICKED OR BANNED!!!!! I will not tolerate any of this "I didn't know" bullshit.

2) NO MP3's. Do not debate this. If you don't like this rule, tough fucking shit. Don't log onto the hub then. Break this rule and you are banned. No exceptions. No whining about it either. I don't want to hear it.

3) The only ALLOWED lossless formats are:
- SHN
- FLAC
- APE

DO NOT download a show in one format and re-encode it to another format (example, download a show in SHN, reformat the show to FLAC, then share it on the hub). If you want to re-encode a show for personal use, fine. Just don't share it here.

4) Anything commercially available is not allowed (both music and film). If you haven't figured this out by now you're a freaking moron.

5) No Porn. Sorry you sick perverts.

6) The following is NOT allowed on the hub:
- Billy Corgan 2004-04-19 Metro show
- Spun out takes
- Gish rough mixes
- Zwan rough mixes
- PI & F (until I hear different)

Share any of these any you will be warned, then kicked, then banned.

7) Share what you download (when possible). If it looks like there is a lot of leeching and no sharing, I'll impose a minimum share amount - like a gig or two to keep people honest.

8) I will not put up with people's bullshit about the rules of this hub. I do not play "politics". This is about the music people. Since I don't have a message board, all complaints can be directed to the nearest brick wall. If you are here to share music and chat every once and a while. Great. If you're not, you are part of the problem and not the solution.

9) For the love of god, no dumb fucking arguments about MP3 vs SHN/FLAC. I'll personlly hunt down those that start this argument and place my foot squarely in your ass.

10) Have fun.

Since it looks like fewer and fewer people are bothering to read the rules at least read this one:

Share a SINGLE MP3 file and you are banned. Period.

NO SECOND CHANCES!!!!!! Sorry.

The important rules here are rule #1. Being ignorant of the rules is not an excuse. If you cannot take the two flipping minutes it takes to read 10 rules, then maybe you shouldn't be on the hub in the first place. Forgetting to unshare bannable material is not an excuse. Step up and take some ownership and responsibility for your actions when you come to the hub. If you can't even take ownership of small piddly things in life what the fuck are going to do when you need to own up to something that's actually important in life?

Second important rule - #2. If users bother to read the rules it plainly states sharing MP3's can and will get you banned. Plain and simple. Within 15 seconds of being on the hub you know one thing that will get you banned - assuming you've read the rules.

Third important rule - #8 - I don't tolerate people complaining about the hub and it's rules. How many more languages do you want me to make this clear in?

I state at the end of the rules to scroll up and read them in case someone comes on and hasn't read them. To top it off I added a very very simple rule right at the end that is viewable when you first logon - Share a single MP3 file and you are banned. Period. No second chances. Doesn't get any simpler than that. If you cannot even read that, then I have no sympathy for you.

Oh, and I don't ever remember being called a sissy for crying at a movie (which I do on a semi-regular basis) let alone kicking someone for saying it, but it could have happened. Life was stressful and odd in those days. I'll leave it at that.

Actually the highlight of my day is getting home from work to see my wife and my dogs. Don't know what you're highlight at the end of the day is but I hope it's a good one.

I could dump the hub tomorrow and never look back. It's simply a place for people to get shows from bands they like. That place has rules. I know it soooooo hard following rules. I'd rather not boot anyone but stupidity and the inability to read seems to run rampant with people. Sorry if enforcing rules or holding people accountable is "petty" or represents an "inferiority" complex in your mind. Nice try in attempting to link the old hub to the new hub.
