tofurkey is the best substance known to man. especially when marinated in soy sauce, honey and orange juice... *homerdrool*

regular turkey is okay...as long as the chef doesn't suck.

turkey is really hard to screw up once you know what you're doing. simplicity is the key. next time, make sure she doesn't fuck it up and do it yourself. all you need is some olive oil, rosemary and garlic powder. take the bird out, rinse it really well in the sink, make sure you take out the innards and stuff. pour the olive in your hands and just rub it on the bird...but don't use a ton. but a quarter of a cup of water inside the bird. sprinkle with garlic powder, rub rosemary in and wrap in tin foil (sprinkled with water) close it up so it's in a pouch and poke holes in the top with a fork. that way, you're baking and steaming. don't judge the timing by the estimations, use a meat thermometer...as soon as it gets to a healthy temperature, you're done. it's the only way to make sure you haven't overcooked. half-way through the cooking, throw the stuffing in (make sure to add raisins or craisins to it cause it's good).

it's fool-proof.

 i dunno, actually. rather stupid if you ask me. people would surely like it. so far you can only get it in noble restaurants and so...

i didn't even know you can deep-fry turkey... seems like it would ruin it for me. then again, i'm from the northeast. isn't it the south that fries everything?

I'd imagine that wouldn't be dry- but goddamn I can't fathom the amount of butter it would take to deep-fry a turkey... it's like a heart attack on a plate.

I saw on TLC that apparantly the chemical that's supposed to make you sleepy in turkey is so minute you'd have to eat somthing like 5 turkey's to feel that effect.

Happy thanksgiving to whoever's celebrating it! I'd rather have it at this time of the year than in November when everyone is already busy preparing and /or saving money for christmas.

I love turkey dark meat - not a lot of people i know do:confused: its so moist , its the best part!

Turkey is definately not overrated. It's so fucking good.
Fuck the dark meat, it can keep it. Only the white is fit to eat.

I had to have my Turkey dinner on Sat. But I wish I was eating some right now.

Triptophan.

right. this is interesting-

http://chemistry.about.com/library/weekly/aa110402a.htm

It's worth noting that other foods contain as much or more tryptophan than turkey (0.333 g of tryptophan per 100 gram edible portion), including chicken (0.292 g of tryptophan per 100 gram edible portion), pork, and cheese. As with turkey, other amino acids are present in these foods besides tryptophan, so they don't make you sleepy.

well , the more you know i guess.

relaxor!

Eh, it's all right. I never got that excited about Thanksgiving either. All it was to me is the night when my friends and I put more effort into making good mashed potatoes.

I prefer to call it turkey day :)

edit: some of you must have fluked into the double header of turkey at one point in your lives. Y'know the "Early turkey dinner then the other turkey dinner at a relatives" I had it 3 times in a 2 day period once, my GOD that was amazing. Three different turkey dinners mmm

i work at Ruby Tuesday (in tennessee) and yesterday we ran out of turkey and brocolli, and apparently it was the canadian thanksgiving, and some canadians came in and wanted just turkey and brocolli to celebrate. oops. the manager paid for their dinner.
edit- i don't know if i spelled brocolli right, stange.
