I don't know, but they sound so confident I'll be damned if I'm going to try any at 12:05.

it's required by law to be good for a minimum amount of time. in this case most likely a year. and they just take the packaging date + time add a year (or whatever the required amount is) and put it on the packaging. especially cereals most likely will not be bad for quite some time after the expiration date. provided they are stored in the right way
