View Full Version : FAILURE - Golden ..unreleased sounds and images Fattening Ass 09-05-2004, 08:27 PM http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/failuredvd Electron52 09-05-2004, 08:47 PM I loved Fantastic Planet. However, Ken Andrews hasn't really done anything great (with the exception of a few ON tracks) since then... Now I think he is just cashing in on it with this release. Why don't they just get failure back together already... Fattening Ass 09-05-2004, 10:45 PM Originally posted by Electron52 I loved Fantastic Planet. Why don't they just get failure back together already... Cashing in on what? -_- Ken and Greg both put this together for hardcore fans. If They wanted to cash in, they would have gone elsewhere to make money, not to CDbaby. Even though CDbaby pays more to the artists, it is not as commercially wide-spread as major labels are. Most of those demos are already available via trade, albeit shitty quality. Its been remastered and yeah its also priced high, but I've already ordered it. 8) Ken has done some great work since Fantastic Planet. He also produces and mixes (of which he's done superbly). Year of the Rabbit is a good rock band, and his experimental electro/pop outfit ON produced some of his best work. Fattening Ass 09-05-2004, 11:01 PM Heh, true Mr. Casey. but the fact that he would think that going to CDbaby would be cashing in just seems dumb. I_was_aborted 09-07-2004, 04:56 AM Originally posted by The Gaddrow Fixed. I saw a band play and I didn't know who they were. I thought they were total shit so I went and tried to find out who they were. Yeah.... Year of the rabbit...it was sad. Electron52 09-07-2004, 10:19 AM Year of the Rabbit isn't really a bad band per say, but they just don't live up to the creativity that I know that Ken Andrews has. I really liked the cover of "I Wanna Be Adored" and a few of the YOTR tracks were cool, but for the most part, they just didn't do much for me. I mean he had the drummer from Shiner in his band, and that guy is totally amazing, but it seemed like they all watered down their talents as a hope for (perhaps) commercial success. Shortly before Failure called it quits, they were in talks to do a co-headlining tour with Hum. If that tour were to have happened, it might have been one of the greatest tours ever. YOTR did play one show with Centaur in Chicago and I would have given both legs to be at that show. Matt Tallbott and Ken Andrews in one band would be pretty unbelievable. I guess we can all keep dreaming :) Fattening Ass 09-10-2004, 10:12 PM This is so awesome. I recommend Fantastic Planet Fans to pick it up. The Gallery features demo versions of FP songs. Its awesome to hear them in their early demo form. There's also The videos for undone and stuck on you, plus the replicant's destination unknown. |
