I'd say chocolate would be good, but isn't that always the groom's cake?

I think I'd like to have a White/Berry/Fruity cake. Like raspberry creme or something. But then I plan on having a pinkish/lavender colored wedding so it'd all flow.

I don't know, I saw something like that on one of those wedding shows and it looked delicious.

I hate chocolate, so I guess it would be white then..

My mom and step dad had chocolate and like 1/3 carrot cake. I thought that was pretty cool.

Chocolate. And make sure the little figurines are edible.

orange flavored cake is the best thing i've ever eaten...

you should do 2 flavors at least...you'd be amazed how many people hate chocolate cake / or white cake... make the masses happy

Motherfucker. Forget it. There will be no cake. I met with two different cake places today. Basically, the one can maybe sorta do what we want, but for a massive price...the other place can't really do what we want, but they can do for a very cheap price. And the cake at the expensive place is really good and the cake at the cheap place sucks. We wanted to do individual cakes, but no one in the tri-state area here is actually capable of doing those. So now, ITT you post pics of the cake you think we should have.

And the pricey place has a pink champagne cake...it's kinda like a whie cake, but with more flavor. I like it. I vote for it. But, otherwise, I vote for chocolate.

But that costs more. If we do a choice for a good price, we'll do a choice. But, otherwise, you get what you get.

Pink champagne cake sounds good. Make sure Champagne Supernova plays.

I hereby vote for a tier of Krispy Kreme doughnuts instead of a cake.

i thought at weddings they had the "show cake" and then they already had individual pieces cut up in the back?

So having two different flavours of cake shouldn't be a problem.

For individual petit fours (which is what really want), they said $6 per person (and we want cake for $100). And the petit fours are supposed to be oversized ones, so that one piece is big enough for one person. But, the best they can do is basically two petit fours stacked on top of each other. For individual petit fours or individual cakes at the cheap place, it would be around $2 max. And since we want white icing on the petit fours, the cake would have to be white (otherwise, the cake would show through the icing).

Not always. It is all up to the couple. And I think that also depends on the catering place too. We will not have individual pieces already cut.

That's what I keep trying to tell my mom, but, thus far, she's not going for it.

For future reference....

the invitations should have the choices of meals and cakes and the r.s.v.p.ers should check off which ones they like and then there wouldn't be too many decisions to make!

Of the 3 samples they gave me (white, chocolate, and pink champagne) at the expensive place, I definitely am preferring the pink champagne. And I think it has enough of a basic taste to please the masses.

I think I have something against round cakes. I definitely want to stick with our original idea of making the cake look like a gift.

go really simple. decorate it with ribbon, berries or a few flowers (purple petals would be cool). cakes are getting huge and awful looking again. why don't you do fancy cupcakes? they would be cheaper certainly.
ones i like:

My mom vetoed that idea. I was all for it.

This one is kinda neat...and we could use the same purple calla lillies that we are using for everything else

I love these. But, individual cakes is just not going to happen. Far too pricey and no one around here can actually really do them. So now, I need to change everything that I had in mind. :(

My mom made the most beautiful cake I've ever seen for my sister's wedding. It had daisies all over it, and teeny little strings of pearls dripping from it. Everyone was asking if they had some ultra expensive bakery in LA or something bake it, and then have it flown in. I'll try and find a pic.
