Aside from changing the file name to .avi and then back to .mpg, causing a few bad frames, is there a way to fix this problem without re-encoding the video?

What the heck does changing the file name have to do with anything?

Ignore that warning, it's never caused a problem for me.

what it does it that it will lock up the video at a certain point but keep playing the audio. you can seek past it, but if you watch straight through the video locks. When you change the filename to .avi and then back, it causes a few bad frames instead of the video locking.

That's weird, I've never had that experience. My advice is post on the videohelp.com forum. It's what Spider-Man would do!
