Just like the Banyan (Perkins' experimental jazz-rock group) show in February, I drove six hours to see this one at the Fenix Underground in Seattle. Long story short: Pete, Perkins, and Zak Melang (Seattle-area bassist) rocked the place with mostly covers. Here's the setlist:
1. 1969 [The Stooges]
2. 1970 [The Stooges]
3. Can You See Me? [Jimi Hendrix]
4. Sunshine [Peter DiStefano]
5. Real Cool Time [The Stooges]
6. Down on the Street [The Stooges]
7. Diminished [Peter DiStefano]
8. Paranoid [Black Sabbath]
9. Communication Breakdown [Led Zeppelin]
10. Rock & Roll [Led Zeppelin]
I felt kind of sick before the show and the opening bands didn't help, but once Pete, Perkins, and Zak hit the stage it was great. During 'Real Cool Time' Perkins busted out a drum solo that just about wrecked the place. Pete was jumping all over the place, shredded with his guitar, and wailed out some crazy white noise. I was right in front of Pete the whole time, it was great.
I caught a drumstick from Perkins and grabbed the setlist. The girl next to me got two drumsticks and got a hug from Perkins. I talked to her a bit and she had a couple of cool Jane's tattoos.
Overall, it was a great show and I finally got to see Pete live.
