View Full Version : why is it that....
twilightfadez 07-23-2004, 11:00 AM you usually find anything and everything that is not from the place where you live so gorgeous?
i have always had this fascination with europe...and i can't bear the thought that the architecture there is so charming and traditional. yet here i'm stuck in concrete squares in miami. ugh. i hate this city. barf.
i love europe:(
i'm very fascinated by the mountains i can see from my house
souvenir 07-23-2004, 11:03 AM Well I've never been to Miami, but from what I've seen of it, it's not hard to find any other city prettier.
morphinebitch 07-23-2004, 11:03 AM i hate living in suburbian area. ewwww. but i'm glad to live in canada. i don't like the sound of the US.

if i lived on a house by the ocean...now that's something else.
but i have always been drawn to the quaintness of small houses, and narrow streets...cobblestone roads and all that stuff. surrounded by lots of trees and oh, old cathedrals and churches.
it's just that Miami is a new city, and there's really not much that ties back to anything. :(
i've got both mountains AND the ocean :)
this is from my kitchen window

Yeah that's my problem with all of Florida. Everything is new and theres really not much history or culture here. After 5 years living in Florida I have only met 3 people who were actually born here.

i love europe:( probably because europe fucking is great
roma especially is the most heart-taking beautiful city in the planet
smashingjj 07-23-2004, 05:02 PM but seriously, i often wonder what north america would be like. it's not the beauty that fascinates me, just that it's probably another world.
yesterdays 07-23-2004, 05:40 PM and i still smell my hands after a shit, to see if i got any on them

but yeah, that's pretty much what america is lacking, a real history in architecture. i mean, i've lived in austria all my life and been in vieena for 4 years now, but it's always breathtaking when i take a better look at st. stephens cathedral or the karlskirche or even some of the old builidings on the ringstrasse. and in the inner district where all those streets are so narrow and you find gems of old architecture around any corner it's nearly breathtaking if you take the time to actually look at them...
Mayfuck 07-23-2004, 06:17 PM Its good the european assholes here are not taking their gorgeous surroundings for granted, i'd be pissed if they were. But yeah the USA sucks and I hate it and I can't imagine why anyone outside the US would want to visit this country.
mxzombie 07-23-2004, 10:59 PM north america is good for natural beauty, but historical monuments of civilization are sparse and boring.
i think that makes sense.

That's how where I live in North Carolina is. I hate it. I can't wait to move to Boston. It's not got the history of Europe, but it has more character than where I am now. I'm over-romanticizing it, I know. ;) The first time I have to worry about snow tires will confirm that.
