i am not speaking from experience since i don't play with pedals, but i wouldn't mind a delay pedal or an ebow.

yes delay/vibrato/chorus pedal.

The vibrato and chorus are good but arent great.

the delay is super awesome though.

you know the end of karma police? with that crazy warbly sound that repeats until its just a growl?
you can do that with the memory man!!

ummm lets see what i remember... i have them all packed away.

i have a...

DOD fx-55 ?? distortion pedal, its ok but its stuck in a constant 'on' position

zoom 505 II, good customizable sounds i like it but probably not good for playing live

big muff russian reissue, wonderful of course.

BOSS phaser, fun i like playing it and i like that it has two settings one thats kinda thin and one thats really warped and deep

ibanez CF7 chorus/flanger, i bought it right before i moved so i havent had a real chance to mess around with it but i remember making some really nice electronic sounding feedback using my ebow, a screwdriver and holding the guitar perpendicular to the amp. :erm so yeah i dunno its probably good if you just use it normally as well.

oh and of course the electro harmonix memory man deluxe.

i like pedals. i'd like to get a ton of money and go to pawn shops collecting old pedals like good ol billy did before siamese dream was recorded.

i want a proper delay pedal and maybe a volume one. my zoom 606 is my baby at the moment, i've also got a boss flanger and danelectro daddy-o for distortion but it's weak.

what I have for distortion on bass:

big muff: (usa RI) the definite fuzz bass pedal, but has one problem, not much use for "regular" stuff, takes out some bass. Sucks too much tone when off. Not for every day, really.

ibanez pd7: overdrive/distortion this is a bass op amp distortion pedal. Overdrive if fine, distortion is crazy korn alike (insane gain, hence much noise while you don't play), but very, very defined. Some guitar players like this one due to immense bottom.

proco turbo rat: now this one rules, it's between distortion and fuzz. Sounds very "open" and dynamic with lots of grind, byte, attack, much less compression and sustain than the ones before. It gives a very good overdriven sound, but at full blown settings sounds more like a big muff. This pedal works perfect for that sort of tool dirt bass sound with lots of mids, oh, there's some bass loss too. For guitar, both rat 2 and "vintage rat" should offer more sustain and compression, if that's what you want. If you like the big muff sound but don't find it suitable for everything you play, the rat's are much more versatile. Forgot to mention, has true bypass and it's built like a tank, really.

You can hear samples on the site - sounds cool, but maybe a one-trick pony. I think you can turn off the uh, zipping and use it as a fuzz though.

product description from metasonix.com below:erm

"I suppose you think the TX-1 is sorta, dude, like one of those digital effecto thingies, dude man? Hah, don’t make us laugh, monkeyboy. We schmutz on your little head and then wipe our behinds on your Commodore 64. This thing doesn‘t even vaguely resemble digital noise. The TX-1 is the exact opposite of digital: it is entirely analog, and entirely made of vacuum tubes, and does not make anything even slightly resembling 1980s pseudo-nostalgia video-game noises. We hate the 1980s, we hate Super Mario, and the Autobots suck fried maggots. Rainbow Brite and her little Smurf cartoon buddies all deserve to be raped and murdered, and the Agonizer is willing to help. You aren't one of those pathetic creatures who hangs out on eBay constantly, bidding furiously on Rainbow Brite wallpaper, are you? If so, then I suggest you join the METALLICA fans in the pink fairy shop down the street. Ha ha ha.

So get rid of your Commodore 64 and your Michael Jackson condom collection, and feel the ultimate sonic horror of the 21st century. It sucks. It hates you. It ruins your property values and causes your condominium association's attorney to send you unfriendly letters. It keys your nice new Lexus LS. It will cause your mama to slap you into next week. Your friends will disown you when they hear your old Culture Club albums through it. It even makes Boy George sound like Throbbing Gristle. (Well, okay, a big gay Throbbing Gristle.) We suspect that George won't like the TX-1 because it's not gay enough. Personally, we feel that any gay artist (other than George) will enjoy the TX-1 just fine, provided the artist in question hates the condominium association and does bizarre things with hamsters. Yep, it's right up your perverted alley, DUDE MAN.

As a presumably-clear-enough warning, The Agonizer bears cartoons of naked women torturing animals, okay? Even the most illiterate skateboard-sucker should be able to figure out the meaning. The cartoons are courtesy of noted comic artist Sarah Combs. (Yes, that's right, a woman drew them. So spare us your self-righteous cries of sexism. Perhaps you want to be the dominatrix's next victim? This can be arranged, monkeyboy.) Larger photo here

What it does: The TX-1 uses an obscure TV tube from the 1960s which nobody has ever used for audio before. (I can hear the doofus questions already.... "Is that sorta like a 12AX7, man? Which brand, man? Does it sound like a Mullard, man? Got any weed, man?" Arrrgh!!)

This bizarre tube defines poor fidelity and does various horrible things, especially in this circuit. A neon lamp in the feedback loop plus some other special features causes all kinds of non-stability, plus loads of screeching, gagging awfulness. It's not stable under all regimes, it sometimes oscillates at ultrasonic frequencies, and as a special bonus, it puts out such a "hot" signal that there is a real danger of the Agonizer damaging some types of solid-state equipment. Isn't that CUTE?? So go ahead and plug it into your computer's soundcard input, dumbass. Ha ha ha.

There's a pentode-tube preamp in the front end for insane excesses of gain. Yes, maggot, you can plug your damn guitar into it, thereby making you feel really groovy, and, like, artistic and stuff. There’s no transistors, no silicon chips and no damn Sovtek 12AX7s in it either, so disabuse yourself of that smug little delusion. No, it doesn't model fine vintage amps, it INCINERATES THEM. Then it craps on your little head. Ha ha ha. Don't show it to METALLICA, they'll probably screw it up your tight little buttcrack. A most appropriate place for it.

Specifications: you have got to be kidding. It is truly sad to see a "responsible" adult making purchasing decisions for music equipment based upon specifications. Music devices represent an arcane area of technology which is highly subject to fashion, fads, personal opinion, and that pesky "artistic license" business. However, some dildos reading this are determined to "comparison shop", so we throw the dogs a chicken bone. It's the same size as our TM modules and accepts both mounting kits. It draws a LOT of power, 12 volts AC at 1.5 amps. NOT DC, dummy. No, it won't run on a 9-volt battery, you suck-monkey. Nor will it complement your lovely Serge modular synth. In fact, it might damage your speakers. And don't take the back off and poke your grubby little fingers inside, because it's full of dangerous high voltages and hot tubes. It even has a CV input that affects the POUND circuit. What does that mean? It means PAIN. It means that you SHOULDN'T BUY ONE. Only extreme synthesists and sociopaths will understand what it means. And now you can ask that inevitable leading question: "Dude, like, what does, like, "CV" mean?"

We’ll make it easy for you, suckboy. We will simply warn you: if you buy a TX-1, your kid will become a Negro, thus further reducing your property values and making your hypocritical white neighbors DESPISE you--'cuz you're obviously a property-value fairy. Your hamster will die in a very inconvenient and dark place, OUCHIE STINKIE. Your septic tank will explode. Your fat ugly wife will leave you for a 17-year-old nosepicking skateboarder. And your dog will chew your genitals off. (Golly, I'd pay good money to see that.)"

...i mean...:erm

Are you running them through a decent amp? A good analogue solid state, modelling amp or tube amp is usually good basis for your tone. If your amp is the weak link, you will pretty much always fall short of what you want.

Anyway, between your two current pedals you should be able to get anything between Fuzz and a angry-bees-in-a-tin-can tones.

If i were you id go for a Delay or a Compressor. Delay in moderation will pad out your sound, or in excess give you the space rock thing, and a compressor will help maintain a balanced volume in a band setting ( if you just play at home compression isnt gonna be high on your list, and if you record via your pc you can get software compressors... and if you play with quite a bit of gain your tone will be compressed anyway.... ).

Totally - I use my delay all the time, just to subtly smooth out the sound and add a little warmth. Like this

Nice one, guess i dont have to tell you to dime the volume on the JCM and keep the preamp gain moderate.

That was total garbage. I bet you get total indie cred for shitting in garbage cans onstage to make music.
