I'm really convinced that campaign strategies are what really make american politics completely irredeamable. When your advisors plan out your agenda based on which demographics vote for "D" or "R" really ruins the whole idea of democracy.

This obscession with statistics belongs in sport, not politics.

But there is no other way to do it. There are not near enough resources and staff and money to target every single voter in every single precinct. And Dem candidates don't target 'D's...that is a waste of time. You only hit up the 'D's right before the election during GOTV so you can get the turnout. You target the swing voters. The people who are targeted are the ones who are neither 'D's or 'R's. Targeting and campaign strategy is more about particular precincts and districts and states than about voters. You don't give a fuck how many Dems are in a precinct if that precinct always vote Repub in every race (and there are no close races)...you're just not going to waste your time there (because there is not enough time, or money, or staff, or anything else), it's just pointless.
