Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.x.O
http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/images/g/godspeed-you-black-emperor/yanqui-uxo.gif
u.x.o. is unexploded ordnance is landmines is cluster bombs. yanqui is post-colonial imperialism is international police state is multinational corporate oligarchy. godspeed you! black emperor is complicit is guilty is resisting. the new album is just music.

stubborn tiny lights vs. clustering darkness forever ok?

Tujiko Noriko - Hard Ni Sasete(Make Me Hard)
http://www.mego.at/images/mego062.jpg
Oh what a pleasantly perplexing melodic sonic cocktail our good Japanese friend Noriko Tujiko creates. This, her 2nd mego album (after MEGO 047: Shojo Toshi) dives deeper into a pool of contorted computers, playful piano’s, unorthodox beatwork and an odd mix of mildly diced melodic fun. Vocally the tunes shift from somnambulistic sing-a-longs to sweet pop styling's. Where exactly the output of noriko this sits in the context of current musical movements is beyond us. For the sake of the timid let’s say 21st Century electronic pop music - a child in love with air, a life with no despair. A whimsical world of unusual charm.

Blood Duster - Drink. Fight. Fuck
http://www.highvoltagerecords.com/BD_DFF_CoverSmll.jpg
This E.P. is the latest in the long line of blood duster releases. Recorded at Toyland but this time with a stellar mix by Micheal Letho (Rush, Marcia Hines), sees us heavy and grinding but fattter than you have ever heard us before.
Six tracks are wedged between silence and digital noise throughout this disc, Features guest appearances from Ja (28 Days) Tommy (Bodyjar) and members of Stiff Meat and Earth.
By far the most extreme (musicly) while the lyrics show a new love of perversity in a yob rock way. Old fans will liken it to 'Yeest' era Duster but even more chaotic.
New fans will love the patent pending new sound "Anthemic Grind Porn".
A taster for the new album coming in march 2003.

Till then , Drink Fight and Fuck.

Variable Resistance - Ten Hours Of Sound From Australia
http://www.23five.org/23fiveLabel/Coverart/23F902.cover.gif
"Ten Hours of Sound from Australia, a selection of work by contemporary
Australian sound artists. Organized by the multi-talented Australian
musician and curator Philip Samartzis, Variable Resistance surveys a
cross-section of contemporary trends in Australian sound art practice. To
underscore the extensive nature of these explorations in sound, the
exhibition features a ten-day 'listening room' presentation of prerecorded
material as well as an evening of live performances by four of the
leading experimental musicians in Australia at present: David Brown,
Pimmon, Philip Samartzis and Darrin Verhagen. The companion CD consists of 11
tracks by Oren Ambarchi, Robbie Avenaim, Philip Samartzis, David Brown,
Jim Knox (xonk), Thembi Soddell, Darrin Verhagen, Pimmon and Delire.
The beautiful 24 page booklet that accompanies the CD contains program
notes and extensive writing about Noise and the Australian contemporary
music scene."

I'm so confused by things I've been hearing of yanqui u.x.o. I need to end this madness and decide for myself wether it IS good or NOT. :D

The new GYBE is just music? Oh well. GYBE were one of the few rock bands that understood the potention behind found sounds and field recordings (love that glockenspiel duo), but apparently they're not dabbling with that anymore. Oh well. The new album may be good, I wouldn't know. I'm broke. And without and internet connection.

Heard the new Tujiko Noriko a while ago. Exciting at first but it seems like the type of music you'd get bored of quickly.

I was also disappointed because I was expecting to find some Neu in this thead.

And after listening to UXO today, I still think Slow Riot is the best thing that they have done so far. Apart from one track on UXO (and I don't know which one- I've only listened to it in my car and my LCD display is fucked- but it's the one with the pulsating beat) I am really disappointed by it.
