Would you prefer:
1. To have a book containging the meanings underlying Billy/Iha's lyrics?
OR
2. Revelling in your own ideas\interpretations of their works?
OR
3. Not knowing at all, eg. maintaining that mystical element. Just treating the music as music and not going any deeper than that?
I prefer to stick to option 2, it means the music won't dull (as quickly, or if ever)for me as much as it could have had I chosen option one; i mean if i had the answers it wouldn't be as much fun, the actual interpretation makes for a more joyous/prolonged experience.
Although option three is quite enticing: accepting (and indulging in) the music as a result of its own merits, eg. the complexity of the guitar/drum/piano/vocal arrangements and getting by on just that is equally as exciting as option two.
Option two is the one for me though, it makes the experience all the more intimate for me.
