Its the only SY album I own, so I can't say I like it in comparison to any others. I do like it on its own merit, I just don't listen to it often. I guess I'm rarely in a mood where that sort of music suits me.

hahahaha
when i first read the title to this thread, i thought "experimental jet set trash" was a new form of music.

the only SY i've heard is a thousand leaves and dirty (is that the one with the little orange puppet thing on the cover?)
i only liked a thousand leaves.

That one's OK, there's only a couple songs on there that I really like, but I don't really HATE any of them. NOT their best work , but probably not their worst either....

THE SONGS ARE TOO SHORT :(

i like sprawling sonic youth epics :(

still, it's good enough to pop in once in a while if i'm being all angst, angst baby.

That album is the reason I started listening to SY. Both my friend and I like it the most of all the SY stuff.

I like it, but it's weak. So it NYCG+F. They're good, but not my favorites. It's usually everyone's first SY record though, since it's almost always in the used bin.

the songs to me are just kinna trite comparitively. it was my first sy album and i liked it then but never listen to it now. actually the last time i listened to it i was much more impressed, but it was definately aided by my not having listened to it in a while, where as i can listen to 1000 leaves or murry street over and over and over and over...

Heh, that was my first Sonic Youth album as well. I rarely listen to it, but that doesn't mean I love any less than I did in 1995. "Bull in the Heather", "Starfield Road", "Skink", "Androgynous Mind", and "Sweet Shine" kick my ass. Sure, there is nary an "Expressway to Yr Skull", "Teenage Riot" or "The Diamond Sea" to be found, but the album is among my favorites of the post Daydream Nation period.
