In fact, pre-Clarity Jimmy Eat World put on one of the top 5 shows I've ever seen.

They had a different bassist for a while. He helped write some of the music, that's why there is quite a bit of difference from Clarity and self-titled to Bleed America.

they were recording the new album with Mark Trombino (he did Clarity and Bleed American, and a good friend of the band) but they decided to fire him halfway through recording. Also, the Universal takeover of Dreamworks has left some bands in limbo as to whether they're still on the roster.
At the moment they're still recording but there's no date on a release

i saw them on their past mini-tour and i was impressed. i had seen them after bleed american came out and it was ok but this past show i saw them at a smaller club and their new songs were very impressive

I'm still waiting for their DVD that was supposed to come out over a year ago.

i saw them on the pop disaster tour (laugh at moi, i enjoyed every bit of it) and they were pretty awesome.

To answer the question, yes, there should be a new album out this year. Whether it will happen remains to be seen.
